We are way up north, in Sandpoint (Bonner County), Idaho. I've been hitting the local lakes and found a few new ones just a few miles south of the Canadian boarder last week.

I just got a boat handed down to me from my grandfather. 16' Hughs Craft RiverRunner with a 40-horse Johnson outboard. I put it in at Garfield Bay on Pend O'reille (basically due east from Sagle) this weekend to get a little orientation with it. We didn't do any fishing but it's what I will be using it for.

I live over in Seattle so I plan to fish the sound a lot, but I grew up fishing all around the PNW for just about everything from bass to steelhead.

I love fishing. It's so different from state to state or region to region. Fishing in So Cal kind of sucks, because I am bored with pier fishing. And some of the stocked lakes just don't do it. I always thought of fishing as getting out to the woods or something.
Tried fishing in Louisiana, and had a blast.
My buddy went with one of the locals to get some redfish. They set out in the boat pre-dawn, and he asked how far it was to the fishing spot.
His reply, "Oh, about two beers."
I love that mentality. I don't think I ever felt so at ease in my life.

That's right - even if you're not catching (doesnt happen much with Z but you know I got people who are liabilities on boat) least you can get drunk and tell lies.

I live in Florida and love seafood. So yea, I love fishing. I dont usually do freshwater. But love saltwater fishing. Shore fishing to be precise. Grab the boys, bring a cooler full of beer, chairs, cast the line out and set it and forget it. Thats what I call a good day.

I used to, but I haven't in a long time.

The whole oil spit situation doesn't make me giddy to go fishing either.

Its kind of telling about our society that when someone is laid off fishing becomes their priority. Of course with 99 weeks or whatever of unemployment, why bother if you can afford it.

it`s kind of telling of our society that when somebody isn`t old enough to vote or get a job they post meaningless BS on these forums!!

What else to do in Idaho besides fishing and hunting? J/K :), I've gone out fishing almost every weekend, catching mostly rainbow trout. I prefer yellow perch though, tasty little fish.

No, I have better things to do than sit in a boat bored out of my skull. Then again I am a city guy and if I had to live in the country I would probably kill myself/others just for some amusement....

For some reason I read this title in my head like Samuel L. Jackson screams some of his famous lines.

My dad and I used to go a lot more when I was younger. Now I probably get out on the lake maybe 2-3 times a year.

I used to when I was a kid, but after catching more tree limbs (above and below the water) than fish I gave it up

When I went in April it was gorgeous, that's all I would want to do in that weather.

One of my favorite things to do. We spend up a week every year up at Lake Nipissing in Ontario catching mainly pike, walleye and bass.

We usually average around 12-14 hours on the lake each day... starting right before daybreak, all the way to dusk (scary trying to find camp in the dark w/out a GPS).

I used to love fishing as a kid, I'd sometimes go out into the garage and practice tossing the line. The trouble is, I don't particularly like eating fish anymore, so I don't know if I'll start fishing again in the future...

Used to go a couple of times a year with my dad but haven't went in the past 5+ years. We were talking about it this week but weren't able to go. Maybe next year.

I grew up on a lake in upstate NY so we used to fish when the lake wasn't frozen over. Caught lots of perch, the occasional catfish, and some bass. Bass was delicious!

Since I've lived in SoCal I've gone fishing a few times out in the ocean and caught a bunch of sea bass but that's pretty much it. A good friend of mine likes to go down to Mexico with his Dad and Brother to fish, he usually brings back a couple coolers full of some of the best fish you'll ever eat.

i used to love fishing.

the hobby started as an excuse to sit outside all day or all night and smoke cigarettes and drink beer with my friends (age of 17). we fished crappies and catfish.

at the age of 21, i discovered bass fishing and i was totally hooked. I ended up buying a $100 reel, a $60 rod, and about 200 worth of tackle. I was going two or three times per week. I once pulled in a 7lb large mouth bass.

Now i'm married, with kids. And it has been 6 years since i've gone fishing. I'm hoping to take my daughter fishing this summer though.

I don't fish. When I was about 7 or 8 I decided it was too boring. And I simply didn't have the attention span for it.
I'd thare canoe, kayak, powerboat, swim, snorkel, scuba dive, or do just about anything else in the water or on a boat.

That said, my dad and uncle love to fish, many of my younger cousins love to fish, and many of my friends and their kids like to fish. I don't think it's "dying" at all.

I still fish now and then. Mostly ocean fishing though. I usually take a boat out of Monterey to Big Sur or perhaps launch my kayak off the surf in Carmel and paddle a mile out to catch the big 'uns.
