Hey, if Jesus passed out Bread and Fish (I dig the pizza-flavored ones myself), then everything is OK. Cause he didn't sin, right? So eating fish can't be a sin, so you're not going to go to hell for fishing or eating fish.

PETA, on the other hand... no comment.

Not sure, but anybody who catches fish "for fun" and throws them back probably doesn't have enough of their own brain matter to feel pain.

Sometimes right after a Friday fish fry, I feel empathy for the fish I have just eaten. But then as soon as my satiation passes, I find myself feeling less and less concerned with the feelings that fish may or may not have. And sure enough, as soon as the next Friday rolls around again, I find myself looking forward to eating some nice tasty fish!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who misread the title, and was then utterly dissapointed upon entering...

My brother-in-law loves to fish, but doesn't like killing fish. He throws everything back.

Fvck yeah it CAN hurt.

Ever had a hook in your arm?

Sometimes the inevitable happens.

Fish fight back too...catfish can stick you with the barbs they have behind their heads. A 5 pound bigmouth bass can clamp down on your thumb pretty good and peel the skin off. Walley & Pike have a pretty good set of teeth in them alone with one hell of a dorsal fin spine that can pierce you quite easily. And those are just small fresh water fishies. 🙂

Fishing indeed can hurt.

Some would say that's an instinctual response to get away from something they simply know is not good for them.

Everything feels pain, but not everything feels it as more than stimulus. Not everything reacts to it with more than an instinct. If a fish is hooked, it will swim/attack/fight untill the hook is ripped out. If your cat gets it's paw caught in something, it will eventually stop fighting and try to get your attention cause it eventually processes the pain more than just stimulus ->react.

Fishing is ok, now that steak you are eating...you can be pretty damn sure it was terrified just before it went to see the big udder in the sky.

But eating beef is ok too. The world is not a soft and cuddly place.

I never said it wasn't. I simply said it can hurt.

Yeah I've had my fair share of dealing with Angelicans stinging me (nearly as bad as urchin but nowhere near as bad as stonefish - those can kill people if they don't see a doctor stat!) and those blasted Rapheals! Their jagged pectoral "clamps" can cause considerable pain on a finger let alone a more sensitive extremity!

Red tails are rather interesting especially when you've raised them from 1cm juvies. I had one that was transferred to Nashville - she was 1 meter and growing and cost $30 a day to feed. Easily could eat a small dog whole.

I don't think fishing is as cruel as deer hunting. It is pretty hard to "catch and release" a deer 😉

Deer hunting should be done with big pits covered by "rugs". Then you can catch and release the deer.
