fish reference guide

is there a fish reference guide somewhere online that has pictures, description , and toxic/edibility info on fishes? It is fine if a reference like this is in a book form too. please let me know. thanks.

There are plenty of them. What type of fishing though? Freshwater or saltwater? Also, there are a lot of DEC guides about precautions to be taken in many areas. i.e. from some freshwater lakes, you can eat fish from the lake 7 nights a week. From other lakes, they advise you to eat no more than 1 fish per month, and only a little fish at that.

salt water mostly. DrPizza, ive never seen a guide like that, can you show me one for example.

Agreed. As far as precautions with certain fish, I don't know of anything other than a local publication that would advise about certain problems, i.e. "don't eat <species> over xx inches due to possible mercury contamination" Such rules don't often apply to huge geographic areas; I'm not even sure if there are salt-water advisories such as that. But, there are plenty of advisories like that for fresh-water areas. (Although, I only keep fish that were stocked, else from one particular lake that has zero advisories for it.)
