I've never been one to suffer from acne much, even in my younger years. Maybe a pimple or two every other week or so. This was with just basic washing while in the shower. Once I started getting into weight training around the middle of this spring I began taking various supplements. I took whey protein, nitric oxide for preworkout energy, creatine, fish oil and a multivitamin. It was then that I started breaking out in huge cystic acne along my jaw line and chin area. I thought it was just hormonal changes due to the weight training so I just lived with it and tried to heal them as quickly as I can with OTC acne medicine.
They were relentless however. As soon as a few of them healed another group would already start popping up. I then fell out of routine with taking the fish oil and vitamin for about two weeks recently. What acne I had healed and I didn't get any new ones for these two weeks. I thought maybe I was finally over that phase. Not realizing it might the be fish oil I started back on it this past Friday and surprise I broke out again.
I did a quick google and wow, it seems to be quite common among users to break out taking fish oil supplements. Not just pimples but huge cysts, which I'm experiencing. I'm definitely going to stop taking them and see if this is really the case. I hope so cause my jawline and chin are probably scarred for life by now.
