Hey, that's better than me...I got "we're experiencing a high volume of calls, please try again later." What's up with that?

Paypaldamon, I notice you're not responding anymore, just want to add my 2 cents, goodby paypal after my current auctions, I'll just keep jumping to free services, then to cashier's checks money orders & personal checks. It's been nice, but you're not necessary...

Is there any charge to send or receive money at exchangepath? I'm signed up, but when I sent money from my webcertificate, they added $1 to what I was sending - so the "pending merchant charge" at webcertificate is $1 more than the amount I sent to my friend. The same thing happened when my friend sent money. Thanks!!!

I haven't upgraded my paypal account yet, but I have an opinion about all this. Concerning fraudulant CC purchases, lock (frozen accounts).
I had two bad charges attempted through paypal (at different times) from Russia and immediately suspected they was NG. I found paypals phone# (& called) and also emailed them to check out these charges I received calls from them (both times) advising me to not ship them item and that the charges looked Bad. (they were fraudulant) , paypal eventually called me to ask my permission to withdraw the funds out of my account, I said Ok and went on with my life. I was wondering if those whos accounts were locked had refused to let paypal withdraw the money from a bad charge?
I have always received any checks from paypal in a timely manner, I doubt lack of funds is the reason for someones paypal check being delayed. just my experience with paypal, and the only reason I haven't upgraded is the fees , but I will probably upgrade because everyone wants to pay through them...

I find this to be a little absurd. What company thinks they can make HUGE changes like this, and not provide the appropriate customer service?

I was never even emailed about these changes, nor do I see them on the paypal home page.

And more absurd is the fact they don't even tell you how much of the $500/6 months you've accrued, what kind of payment was sent by the sender. Gee, they'll tell us WHEN you've reached
the $500 limit, how nice.

R.I.P. paypal , soon to be another dot.com in the graveyard.

I've been saying it for months and I'll say it again.

Whatever you do, DO NOT BECOME A VERIFIED PAYPAL USER!

As I've been saying for 7 months, PayPal has zero customer service. I have never been able to add a credit card to my account and they have never responded and refuse to try to determine what is wrong with their service.

Bottom line, Everyone else is now seeing what I have seen for 7 months. PayPal is great as long as everything runs smoothly, but if you have a problem you will NEVER get any help because this company provides zero customer support.

I feel the main reason that PayPal is adding all these new fees is because they grew too quickly, had absolutely no working business model. (We'll lose money on every credit card transaction, and give money away, but we'll make money on interest! Real geniuses) Now they are suffering the same problem other dot coms are and cannot get any more venture capital to stay afloat. So they implemented all these changes as an emergency measure to not go bankrupt.

Be very wary of a dying company like this! You've seen all the problems people have had with PayPal arbitrarily locking accounts and withholding money. If you verify a PayPal account you are giving PayPal permission to WITHDRAW MONEY FROM YOUR CHECKING ACCOUNT!

If you thought your problems were bad today, try to imagine as the company begins to go out of business and they start implementing new charges and fees and penalties and start WITHDRAWING them from your bank!

So go ahead and use PayPal, but DO NOT keep a large balance and DO NOT authorize them to take money out of your bank.

I've been sending them hate mail for a while now :D. Whenever they sent a stupid automessage that had nothing to do with my email, I blast them again. Finally I got a real email from a real person, and they didn't help. All they did was say sorry. I'd advice everyone to cancel and check f***edcompany.com every week and collect your points. I've actually known someone who lived with 2 paypal employees, and he told me that they go to work and play diablo all night. How's that for customer service.

HI,

I have actually been out of the office for several days.

When it comes to account activities restricted due to questionable activities, I can't do anything more than refer it to the appropriate party. I don't have the tools to research the case and it is not within my realm to solve. Emails sent to me by other parties are forwarded to the appropriate teams and I generally email the user to let them know I have sent the case along.

Policy changes can be found on the web site after you log in to the account. Emails are sent to users that are opt-in on receiving information. It is posted on the web site to give all users access to the information in the event that it has not been received via email.

I will be popping in over the next few days, but I am catching up on my workload. Please feel free to direct an email to me at damon@paypal.com with any outstanding issues.

Thanks!

csc2: Why do you say: "If you verify a PayPal account you are giving PayPal permission to WITHDRAW MONEY FROM YOUR CHECKING ACCOUNT!"? I don't see anywhere on their web site such a provision. That is if you mean some kind of permanent/unlimited permission. I only see emphasized in their Terms of Use that:

"X.com will never make electronic transfers from your bank account without your explicit permission. Furthermore, X.com provides you unlimited protection against unauthorized withdrawals from your bank account."

and then again:

"X.com will never make electronic transfers from your bank account without your explicit permission."

spec411: I think we're talking about different things. I assume you're talking about X.com and paypal accounts. Where they do indeed whatever they please, but you're already warned about it. I was replying to Flagg who was saying that verifying an external bank checking account with them will result in giving them permission to withdraw money from that account. Which I haven't heard anybody complaining about. And besides the solution is very simple: just call your bank and tell them that transaction wasn't approved by you. Since they have no proof of any approval, it will be reversed in no time. Or if it's not, it's time to change your bank. I'd be interested to hear about claims they made unapproved withdrawals from external checking accounts.

Paypal does not suck. It helps me a lot, I can withdraw money from my cc with no fee or interest and add to my bank account. I do not get how on the earth they can finance this? Definitely a tool which has no substitute for me. However, there are always other services around in case they stop their good service.

Log into "Personal Account Overview"
Beside "Balance" click "View Limits"

It will show your CC receiving limit and the amount remaining.

I have never posted to this thread, so you can be sure I'm not repeating myself here.

I loved Paypal. To my knowledge, I introduced over 100 other members to it. (I didn't, however, push the whole "referral" thing, so I didn't make money off of most of them)
I've used it for splitting rent and groceries, paying for auctions, and even just transferring money from one account to another (who needs to pay for direct deposit).

My asessment of this company has done a complete 180. I will not refer people to a service who does not abide by their mission statement or policies.

As far as my own usage goes, I'll probably keep the account to make auction payments with since apparently you're most protected as the buyer, but I will either find another service to manage my incoming transactions or go back to snail mail.

I just signed up with Exchangepath
Looks good to me. Anyone know of other ones? :)

Paypaldamon, I haven't seen you do anything here, other than a good dance around the issues. Some of us may like to remain with Paypal or have our accounts reinstated if your company stops being so rigid on this policy change. Would you rather listen to your customers, or have them move on and not have any customers?
