Um... 1/31th of the popular vote in a country with millions (billions?) of people is still a shiotload of people who think you should be their leader.

You're not suggesting that The States possibly has billions of citizens, right?

Except this is a county with 31 people not a country with 300 million. :D I understand your talking about statistics though.

I may be wrong, but I thought the press was not aloud to announce numbers until all the polls were closed nationwide. I know its only 31 votes so not a huge deal, but I thought that was the case.

The news seems to always have a 'running' count each time so I feel safe saying they are allowed to announce numbers.

Yes. I was merely explaining why Nader breifly had a smile on his face when the statistics said he had 1/31th of the popular vote. Obviosuly once theUS votes things change:D

That's only when they "call" a state one way or the other before the polls are closed. They don't want to discourage potential votes by saying "it's all wrapped up in *insert state*" when it isn't, and the polls are still open.

If they "call" a state before the polls close, it *should* be when it's impossible to go the other way. I don't see how this is possible with provisional ballots though...

I think that if you're capable of making that large of an error in estimating the population of the US, then perhaps you shouldn't be voting??
