<< The first one I ever saw was when I was a teen at the beach. I have no idea what the name was but it was a very simple black and white tv screen with a field of moving stars. The goal was to move this little rocket shaped thing to the top of the screen without hitting any of the stars. It had a joystick that moved it left, right, up, or down only. No diagonals etc.

Edit: Researched this a bit and I think it was called Space Race. You could not move left or right, only up.

It was either "Choplifter" or "Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego" on the Commodore 64.

I remember playing PONG on a Fairchild game system at Sears when I was a wee lad. Man...there was a crowd of people around it just AMAZED that two lines were bouncing a dot back and forth....and it was BEING CONTROLLED BY A PERSON!!!

Adventureland by Scott Adams on TRS-80. (God that had the best graphics... oh wait it was only my imagination.)

For actual video game it was a pong dedicated game.

I don't remember the name, but it was a chinese dude on a unicycle with a pointed hat that would go back and forth on the screen and you'd pop the falling balloons.

Commador 64..

Same here.. We had a Sears Pong machine and I distinctly remember playing Space Invaders (always my favorite) and Pac-Man at the arcade close to our house.
