First trailer for Black, the FPS from Criterion (and EA).

The trailer has been released on IGN a week before all other outlets. Granted, it is a trailer, but it looks mightily impressive. Keep in mind when you watch the video that this is the PS2 version. :shocked: :shocked:

It's due out 2006 sometime. The end of the trailer sports PS2 and XBOX logos, but let's hope this thing will come out on the PS3 and 360 also. I'm looking forward to more info about this game.

I like the destructable environments. It seems odd that something of this caliber is to be offered on PS2 do you suppose the trailer was XBOX The trailer doesnt really show you anything about the game though except gunfire and destructables. AI? Plot? Innovation? Coop? I dont own either console buy I may be picking up a PS3 or NEXTBOX eventually on FS/FT when someone gets tired of it

EDIT "(and yes, this is taken from the PS2 version)." HOLY SH!T! Why havent any other games for PS2 had this type of graphics if it has been so capable this whole time.

Exactly. That's why I made sure to point out that it was just a trailer in my original post. Let's just hope that the mastermind behind what looks to be great gaphics is also smart enough to program a good enough game. I'd sure hate to see a purty game like this go to waste.

heh i dont care if there isnt any story and the acting is rubbish, it looks worth it for the explosions alone!

and its believeable that this is the PS2, not too colourful, and although theres lots going on, thats when the PS2 performs best....when your cramming it full. alot of games dont utilize the full beans of the PS2 and they end up not running as smooth. GT series is another example. one of the best racing games in terms of physics and looks, and it runs flawlessly

and this is criterion....they guys that did Burnout and developed the Renderware engine behind it. this lot are a mega talented bunch, if anyone can do it...they can

this game might even be renderware..... only renders whats on the screen, and the only geometry in the memory is whats on the screen.

games like burnout and GTA that use renderware are constantly accessing the disk and for the PS2 and res its putting out, this seems to work

i dont think theres any doubt that the PS2 is a capable machine...its just stupidly hard to get the best from it
