i just got an athlon 750, abit ka7 mb, leadtek geforce2 GTS and 256M (was told) micron pc133 CAS3 ram. The system rocks, but i would like to get the most out of it i can w/out putting on a GFD. So, i am trying my hand at overclocking the FSB! :)
It runs stable at fsb 110@825, 1.7v
Sisoft lists my memory bus at 148Mhz, shouldn't it be 144??? If i go any higher windows loads fine but games lock up. i thought it was related to the agp...i was wrong.
i set the memory bus down to 100Mhz and ran up to fsb 123@923, 1.7v :D

which one is better for gaming?

fsb 123@923 memory bus 123Mhz

fsb 110@825 memory bus 148Mhz

thanks

Why don't you do some benchmarking on your own and see? Run some timedemos in Q3 or UT, better yet, run the 3DMark 2000 benchmark. One tip I can give you is this, higher memory bandwidth usually wins out over a slightly increased CPU speed. Do some testing and let us know what you uncover.

Hey Clint, when I had problems with my games locking up, I bumped the I/O voltage to 3.5v over the 3.3v defalt and it cleared up the problem. Give that a try... Also, good job on the 123fsb, most Athlon's don't like over 110 or so. I can hit 120, but it is a little unstable. Good luck...

4/3 * 111 = 148

Yeah if you use a GFD you will get around 900 mhz. My 700 mhz Athlon with a 800 core can get to 960 mhz.

One of my other systems has a KA7 and a 750 - it's 100% stable at 840MHz without any extras cooling an case open. With a GFD and case open and 4 extra fans blowing it will hit 930MHz 100% stable.

hmm .. maybe I should do a video review of this setup. hehee

well it took awhile but here are the stats! the only real performance difference is in "High Polygon Count"

3Dmark wouldn't run above 120@900, however i could run quake3 timedemos about 5 out of 10 times up to 123@923???? i think it is an openGL vs D3D thing???

120fsb@900 1.7v i/o 3.4 memory bus 120Mhz[U/]

THANKS Insane3D for the i/o tip :):)
