First time using Linux, with Kubuntu Live CD. Couple of problems

Well first off i haven't really messed with any Linux at all.

Now i tried using the Kubuntu Live CD (the latest one on the kubuntu site), and it booted fine and the system worked fine. My first problem is that my mouse behaves erratically, with everytime I move it sorta "right-clicks" and gives me the option of "cascade windows" and "tile windows".

My second problem is that i can't get to the "control panel". The system would freeze. The mouse would move fine (still having the right click problem though). I thought that maybe a full ISO download might help but i wanted to ask first here.

My system specs are:
AMD Athlon XP 2600+, 1913 MHz (11.5 x 166)
Biostar M7NCD Pro
Corsair Value Select 512MBx2 DDR PC-3200 (Dual Channel)
10GB / 200GB / 48X CDRW / Floppy
XFX Geforce 6600GT 128MB AGP8x
ViewSonic VP171B-2 17" LCD Monitor, 8ms
Sound Blaster Audigy

Mouse and keyboard are the Microsoft® Wireless Optical Desktop 1.0 (USB).

Hmm, I would say maybe you are having problem with the Live CD rather than the system itself. U might want to try Ubuntu Live CD and see if the same problem are present, if so, then I would say it's hardware related, if not then it's the Live CD. Try that would ya?

I d/l, burned, and ran this Live CD. Interesting, but limited in being video-friendly. Anyway, while trying to see what other loaded resolutions were available from the KDE desktop my PS/2 mouse froze. I had to re-plug to get it back. This is on an Abit IT7 (Max2 V2).

I am downloading Live Kubuntu CD now. What are the benefits of running a your OS from a CD-rom? you can't install programs, you can't save settings.

from 1-10, my experiance with linux is a 2, maybe around 1.7777ish is more accurate..hehe.
