first time playing CS

Install the game. Download gamespy arcade, click on half life and go to counterstrike rooms. Then just find a game.
 
find one of those u2k.net beginner servers. They have horrible ping (hell, they're located in the united kingdom aren't they?), but the people that play there are truly newbs. If you reach a certain amount of kills they kick and ban you, but dont take it personally, it means your improving 🙂

As for single player, the closest thing u can get is downloading a bot program
