First time making a video CD...

...and it's taking forever! P4 1.6a @ 2.133Ghz...4% at 4:18. I'm used to a sub-3sec burn for 700mb...lol

It says "encoding video"...so I guess I'll go to sleep and let it finish. 😛

If it has to encode from a differnt source it will take a while.

A lossy encode on my old P3 933 took 3+ hours 🙁

Have a replayTV now so i don't bother and won't till I get a DVD burner...

I'm guessing he's using the encode feature of NERO? that has one right?

TMPGenc will produce a nicer smaller file but will still take a long time.

Yeah..whatever Nero has. Will more RAM help? It'll be tripled by Wednesday or Thursday (256 to 768 -- hopefully an even 1Gb soon after..btw..anyone want to buy 256mb of PNY PC2700? 😉 😛)..

Actually no RAM won't help that much, 512 is about all you'd need really, the encoding is done by the processor so proc speed\architecture and bus are the limiting factors.
