First time Ebay seller. Where can I find information?

I have a few video games and graphing calculators I'd like to sell on ebay. I know that the seller is the person who can get screwed very easily so I'd like to get as much information on how to avoid getting screwed.

What can I do to make sure the item goes to the shipper? Is insurance a good idea? Are UPS or FedEx better than USPS for ebay?

If I could be linked to a thread or website on how to sell things on ebay properly I'd really appreciate that.

I can upload the Delivery confirmation number to the ebay page? or paypal account?

Is there a particular shipping method that I'm supposed to use for ebay? Should I just use whatever is cheapest?
Thanks

If you print shipping labels via ebay/PayPal, tracking linking gets posted automatically, with option to notify buyer and also arrange USPS carrier pickup (if you go with USPS). You can post manually on ebay (not PayPal) tracking link or send via email.

?

Did you try FS/T first?
None of the fees, and you're less likely to have to deal with eBay-grade morons.
The morons we have here are of a much finer vintage.😉

Wouldn't I make more money off Ebay?

Not necessarily.

Sometimes ebay nets more money, sometimes FS/FT does. Just depends.

But w/ AT FS/T you don't have to mess with fees as much.

If you really want to do the ebay thing, include insurance in the price. It should not be an option. You should do FS/FT forums here though.

ok but what if I'm not sure what the value of my items are?

Check the ebay fees: http://pages.ebay.com/HELP/SELL/fees.html

Then the PayPal fees: <a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_display-fees-outside">https://www.paypal.com/us/c......splay-fees-outside</a>

Noteworthy fees:

Receiving Card Funded Payments 4.9% + $0.30 for U.S. domestic payments (limit of 5 transactions per 12 month period)

Final Value Fees: Auction style

Closing Price

Final Value Fee

Item not sold
No Fee

If Sold for:
$0.01 - $25.00**
8.75% of the closing value

$25.01- $1,000.00
8.75% of the initial $25.00 ($2.19), plus 3.50% of the remaining closing value balance($25.01 - $1,000.00)

I sold a box set of Brand of Brothers dvd, new for my roommate on eBay. It sold in the low thirties (32 I think), after ebay fees, paypal fees ( buyer paid with CC ouch), shipping, the profit was down to the low twenties.

ok so if i sold here on the forums, what is the most trouble free form of payment to accept? do non-credit card payments include just paypal and cash?

Trouble free as in less initial hassle? Paypal. Safer but more of a pain in the ass for both parties, money order.

The buyer has to take time of their busy schedule to either go to the bank or the post office just to get a money order. Some banks also charge a fee (From what I heard). Then the buyer has to mail the MO out and wait for you to receive it. Personally as a buyer, I would rather pay by Paypal. Quick and easy. Nothing worse than being a buyer and waiting roughly a week and a half to get their product. When paying by Paypal, the seller could easily ship the next day and the product could be in buyers hands within three days and if you ship through Paypal delivery confirmation is free and the tracking number is immediately transmitted to the buyer.
