Hi All,

I'm building my first computer and stumbled across this website. I have been reading other peoples posts for suggestions and have come up with the following components. I'm not concerned with overclocking and will only occasionally be playing games. I like the idea of possibly hooking my computer up to a HD TV as a monitor, so if anyone has any experience on that, that'd be appreciated. Without further ado, here's what I came up with...

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+

Epox EP-9NP Ultra - it seems this was recommended on multiple occasions

Fortron AX-450PN PSU - also recommended on multiple occasions

Cooler Master Centurion 5 - don't really know, but it seems to have good reviews

Radeon X800 GTO - like the HD out feature and PCI Express

Leaning toward this hard drive - Hitachi Deskstar 160 GB Sata II

But can't decide if this hard drive would be better - Seagate 7200.9 160 GB SATA II

what do you think about those two hard drives?

Any suggestions on components or can I "click the buy button with confidence?"

Thanks very much - hope your thanksgiving was great and look for me to be cruising around these forums regularly now that I found them.

What else will you be doing besides gaming? It definitely doesn't sound like you woul benefit from a dual-core CPU. Also, I would get the Hitachi drive.

to answer Drew, I will be doing a little bit of video encoding such as burning DVD's that I already own (ha!) and creating a few family slideshows, etc. Thanks for the responses so far!

I bought two sticks of this ram:

Ultra PC 3200 512 MB

I know, I know, not the best, but I ordered this for my existing computer and it was elixir branded, and worked fine. For $10 I'll take the chance that it works, if not, I'll buy whatever someone else suggests.
