What the hell is this? That's not a test... that's the lamest review I've ever seen of anything. "We tested it and it did ok, but we don't have any results to show you to prove our claims." Morons... thank God for sites like Anandtech... otherwise we'd be left in the dark about the actual performance of new products with places like PCWorld.com.

They actually use a benchmark applications? Looked to me like they just looked at the computers, maybe smelled them, and said "yup, it's good."

Boy, that was lame-ish. I'm gonna call AMD and ask for an eval unit so I can "test" it too!

In initial tests, two systems based on the 2.2-GHz Athlon XP 3200+ processor easily outran top Pentium 4-based systems on business applications. And each would save you $100 to $400.
That's the biggest load I've ever seen... What business applications? P4 smoked the 3200+ in "every benchmark" done by the repulable "testors".

Truely those people are AMD "fan boys" at their worst...

note* I am an AMD overclocker myself.

I don't know about AMD fanboys... I still maintain that they're complete morons. :D

My e-mail to PCWorld...

Your review of the Athlon XP3200+ was EXTREMELY lacking. You provided no evidence of it's performance. You only stated that it "outran top Pentium 4-based systems on business applications." Where's the proof? You didn't provide a single score or bit of information as to how well it performed. I realize PCWorld is not a hardcore computing magazine or website, but this is rediculous. Your review of it goes against 95% of every other test done on the XP3200.
I don't mean to be nasty, but if you'd like to check out websites that do REAL testing and show the facts, you might take a look at www.tomshardware.com and www.anandtech.com.
I also notice that in the tests where you do provide facts (and few at that), you use computers that aren't equally equipped. If you want to be taken seriously by the "hardcore computing" community, you really should refine your testing methods. You can't take 2 completely different computers, run a few tests on them, and say it's a test of the processor. That's insane. So many other variables play a part in the complete performance of the system.
Years ago in my 5th grade science class we learned that when conducting experiments, you must have controls and variables. Variables being the object, or in this case, componant that you're testing. If you have a single constant, and 5 or 6 variables, that makes the experiment (or test) invalid.
In the future, you may want to reconsider your testing strategies, or reconsider what you claim to be testing.

OMFG I CANT BELIEVE I READ THAT WHOLE REVIEW I FEEL 10x STUPIDERERERER. But seriously that was the most load of crap ive read in a long time. The 3200+ cant even edge off the Cs never the less making little comments on the 800Mhz fsb being "An 800-MHz Gimmick?" And who is this Kevin Krewell? A Jerry sanders butt buddie? I mean come on:

"It's a marketing tool for now, but it helps Intel prepare for the future, says Kevin Krewell, general manager at research firm In-Stat/MDR."

Wow load of crap, and Jeff great letter tell us when they reply, if they do ;)

I suggest a name change for the rag. How's "PC-Whirled" sound? The warm, fuzzy, fact and content free mag, for the computer L-user! :disgust:

lol, good one... the thing I can't figure out is how their "power desktop" computers all seem to cost the high side of $2500... if I spent $2500 on a computer I'd have a computer capable of a hell of a lot more than those systems they test over there.
