First start boot loop

I just put my first build together and it'll power on, but it boot loops. Is it because I don't have any ram installed? I haven't gotten it yet so I can't test it. I've seen people talk about MoBo lights and beeps but I don't have any of these. Could that be a bad MoBo?

My understanding, is that generally, mobos with working CPUs, but no RAM, will stop POST and beep several times (if you have a PC speaker connected) to indicate no RAM present.

I don't think that I've ever seen them boot loop because of that.

Boot loops are generally caused by bad CMOS settings, or otherwise, the CPU doesn't initialize the chipset and reset the watchdog timer within a certain time period after the power-good signal from the PSU, so the watchdog timer initiates a RESET of the system, and it tries to boot again.

I don't have speakers connected so I don't know if it's beeping. It could be for all I know.

Did you install the RAM on the motherboard? Video connected?
In my original post I stated that I don't have any ram installed yet. It's still on order, just waiting for it to come in. I had the video connected to the graphics card, then I removed it and plugged it directly into the motherboard.

you need to wait for the ram. I have never had a mobo boot period without ram. Always a black screen.

I have seen some power off. Never had any power back on by itself. Most of them though just repeatedly beep.

I don't have any speakers hooked up so I don't know if it's beeping. Hopefully that's the case. For some reason the MoBo came with 2 SATA 6 cables but I'm pretty sure that my hard drive is SATA 3.

When you get all of your components let us know how it behaves and then we can diagnose from that point if it doesn't complete post and load the OS.

It doesn't have an OS yet. I literally just put all the components together last night. But I will update once I get my ram

This kind of reminds me of a guy I used to work with who bought all kinds of motorcycle gear before he got around to actually buying a bike to ride. He used to tickle me with all of his conversations plus the fact that he toted around gear without owning a bike.

Yeah but I actually have a computer. Just haven't gotten the ram yet. I ordered it, just haven't received it.
