If this movie comes out feeling a lot like WoK, I think most would be happy.

I prefer the Shakespearean version - "Make it so." ;)

How about the 10 commandments?

"So shall it be written, so shall it be done".

;)

LOL. That'd be hilarious

Then Paramount threw the franchise an Abrams shaped lifeline. The guy who masterminded Lost and Cloverfield brought in a young cast to play the original series' classic characters, and pledged to drag Trek away from nerdy technobabble, and into the mainstream.

:(
Did people expect it to be anything else? This is exactly what he said he was going to do and I for one am willing to give it a shot. I am sick of 20+ years of Berman's and Braga's boring 'ole nonsense. So here's to something new.

then call it something else. It's not Star Trek without nerdy technobabble

I was quite happy they eliminated most of the technobabble and I'm a lifelong Trek fan. Kirk's and company's forte was getting out there and kicking some ass which they do with great efficency in the new film.

They included a lot of little nods to the old movies and series which I thought was very nice. In all I consider this to be it's own franchise (and a quite worthy one), separate from everything that came before.

I'm not a Trekkie at all (I've probably seen half of the movies), but I have enjoyed what I've seen.

With that said, I'm mega looking forward to this new one because of the badass "ground scenes" that I saw in the trailer. Monolithic, sci-fi futuristic, looming buildings on the horizon. Love that stuff.

TOS is still the best...

Because it was mostly metaphors about the human condition.
With some healthy, short-skirted misogyny woven in there, too. :p

Dammit, Jim! I'm a doctor, not a physician!

Scotty did things like cold-starting the engines, something that someone can actually wrap their mind around. All Geordi did was reconfigure the Deflector Dish to emit everything from Tachyons to tuna noodle casserole.
Geordi never needed to do a cold-start, because cold-starts were eliminated thanks to the thermionic plasma inversion conduits. Duh. :p

I finally saw the newest(?) trailer in the theatre today. Holy shit, looks a lot better than the first ones I saw.

That was pretty damn funny, not to mention wendy was looking rather nice in some of those outfits.
