DAm it was GOOD FUN.
Today was my first ever real gymnastics class by a proper coach and not a school teacher.
It was a good experience. I saw lots of children from about 8 to 15 do stuff. Some in the national team and they were simply put AMAZING. I saw this little boy about 10 ish or so do a hand stand and he was BOLT UP RIGHT like a POLE for quite some time. BOLT UP RIGHT! Then I see some on the pummel house, vaults, floor routine. Some doing front summer saults. It was AMAZING to see these guys do it.
Then it came to me when I trained with the adult session. It was good. I had some gymnastics from school and I am flexible naturally so that helped. I Weight Lift 3x a week so that really helped my strength some. But the problem is with Weight Lifting all my power is in my legs and mid section. Gymnastics is much more rounded and upper body is used about 85% of the time the coach told me. My upper body is strong but not conditioned to do Gymnastics.
First: I was warmed up. Rolls. then cart wheels. I can do cart wheels then I try some one handed cartwheels which was a first for me. It went good.
Second: Coach took me on to the parallel bar. This was very hard on the shoulders and deltoids and arms. Had to get use to the co ordination. Swinging on the bar wasn't that simple to start with. Got much better with practice. Had to walk along with my arms. Not so easy at first. Then had to turn from one side to another.
Third: Work on this thing where I spin my body around. I had my feet in a bucket with ropes so it took the weight off me and I had to work on arm movements. HARD and not easy at all. I saw this little kid about 8 DOING IT!! He OWNED ME!
Fourth: Front summer sault off little ramp thing on to mats. I was good at this and it was good.
Fith: Teaching me to do handstands. He told me the technique that they use. It was much better with him teling me how to do it. I know how to do them now. Now all it takes is practice before I am really good at it😀 can't wait. Then working in to rolls.
Yeah I had a really good time. Very different and an AMAZING WORK OUT.
I SAW THE MOST RIPPED GUY EVER TODAY! No drugs used here as hes a national level competitor. He would be about the 'perfect' shape I'd say and the type of shape I am working towards. Nothing HUGE but he was big and was ripped. I'm no small guy myself but he was big and really nicely toned. Hes been training since he was about 6 and hes 20 now. Also amazingly strong too. Made EVERYTHING look SO SO easy. You got to try some of the stuff out at a club to see how CRAZY HARD it is to do.
Well I'm pumped and will go asap when I have time from studies. Finals in 3 weeks. I am in total awe of how good they are!
