First post claims

I can't be the only one who reads the news topics and hates when people submit "first post" replies. I want to read the news stories and replies to them in order to learn something, not to see a post from someone hitting refresh on their browser 400 times so they can be the first one to submit a reply. It's especially annoying when they think they're first, but actually aren't, then they have to post again saying, "Well, I guess I wasn't first after all..." Is there some sort of reprisal we can exact on these people? Temporary ban or something?

I could complain about the Soviet Russia jokes as well but one in ten is somewhat amusing, so I don't hate them as much. Still, it happens way too often.

Any other suggestions?

Scroll past posts that don't interest you? You know I get tired of regulars around here b!tching about insignificant topics like this one. Never mind someone with 2 posts complaining.

I agree - "first posting" should be a bannable offense, there's no reason for people to post it and it brings the forums to the intellectual level of a counterstrike forum . It's not a huge problem here yet - but if it becomes one I say bring the banhammer down with severe justice.

I'm not making a huge deal out of this, I'm just saying this is an unnecessary annoyance that degrade the quality of the forums. If there is a reasonable response to reduce the frequency of this happening, it should be done.

My number of posts is not indicative of how long I've been reading this site. Perhaps you should have taken your own advice in regards to this thread....
