I'm surprised they are letting you pick the bigger engine on any trim level. That's a bit out of character for these companies. Dodge does it but most others don't. Wonder if they felt they had to as well since this is a Wrangler competitor.

You hit it on the head. They did it because it’s main competitor is a Jeep and Jeep gives you eleventy billion options.

have been looking at these the last couple of days since release and I like the look, if we didn't have an '18 rogue already I'd consider this.

I'd like to see one up close and personal.

I'm very curious to see one in person. Functionality-wise, they look amazing. Design-wise, it's a little bit boring, but sometimes seeing it in-person makes all the difference. I just saw a Jeep Gladiator yesterday & I still can't get over how ugly it is IRL, despite looking pretty good in photos online lol.

The modularity looks pretty exciting. The amount of after-market customizations is probably going to be pretty sick, definitely excited to see what people come up with!

So many cool features:

I'm impressed with how extremely well-thought-out the Bronco is. While the aesthetic design doesn't particularity stand out to me (it's good, but not great), the functionality is just incredible. Plus, 12-inch touchscreen & 35-inch tires? Yes please!

The aftermarket parts list for the Bronco is going to be pretty huge due to the modularity of the vehicle:

Ford will have over 150 aftermarket parts available at launch through their dealer network:

Saleen aftermarket:

Hennessey aftermarket:

I wonder if COVID will be in a state where SEMA can happen next year. Would really love to see some awesome Bronco mods!

So the Sasquatch trim is only available in automatic: (10-speed)

Although Ford is open to feedback:

Which makes me think this is a marketing gimmick, to generate buzz & eventually open up the option. The package includes:

* Beadlock-capable wheels
* 35-inch mud tires
* Special Bilstein shocks with a lift
* Locking axles
* A 4.7:1 final drive ratio
* High-clearance fenders

For some reason, this is how I'd picture the Lost in Space Netflix show designers designing a Bronco haha:

...I dunno if I like the anti-hummer door option on this. :(

It's an optional door (with the see-through window), you can get a solid one, if that's what you're referring to:

Mercedes has it now it a lot of their vehicles. A couple of manufactures have them as well in lower priced vehicles.

the yellow one needs more light bars. limb raisers for those pesky low trees in the mall parking lot. :rolleyes:

overall I like it and could possibly be interested in a 4 door. i do wonder what the towing cap will be, hopefully 5k+ but probably not. everything attached to the outside is played out. design it so that the things you need are able to be well stored and inside. a good jack and handle, a short D handle shovel and some maxtrax in a tray under the back seat. etc. High mount light bars are terrible for glare or in dust. approch and departure look good, and I like the tucked in bumpers.

400lbs of torque with the ecoboost 6. Get the 470 gears and it will pull a fright train.

I love these designs... but I'll admit I really wish there was an electric or PHEV option for them. A 2020s vehicle should have those choices as a matter of course.

Jeep is working on it:

I'm really excited about the new F-150 as well. Sleeper seat, hands-free highway driving, a 12" touchscreen, and an optional 7.2kW battery & 35kW electric motor:

tbh if I was single, this would make a killer RV home! Sleeper seats or truckbed tent, big battery (hopefully it has a camping mode!), electric power jacks to run power tools so you could do on-site contractor jobs, etc.

My Daddy was a Chevy mechanic, and we always had Chevys. My estimation of Ford rose considerably after I'd participated in a consulting effort with Deming in the early 1980s, before the "Job One" ads, and I noticed that all the troubles with major US automakers in later decades still showed Ford operating in the black.

That being said, the new Bronco shown in post #1 by the OP still looks like a bona-fide SUV. Now, of course, all you regular members who come to this forum frequently to feed are aware of my old Trooper and my obsession for it. About three months ago, I was poking around the shelves and racks of Autozone looking for a 28mm box/combo wrench, and a fellow comes up and points me to it. Says he's a lifetime mechanic, so we started talking, and obviously -- I was going to talk about my Trooper. He told me that the design for the 2nd gen Troopers like mine had been bought from Ford, even as the Isuzu-GM partnership defined other aspects of the Trooper line. Does anyone know if that's true?

Jeep's move is definitely good, I just wish I could combine that eco-friendly powertrain with Ford's particular designs. For that matter, I'd be curious to see what Tesla could do if it made a more compact off-roader. Not necessarily a Cybertruck Mini.

These are overpriced without incentives. I'd wait a year or two until they have trouble moving them. The pictures look awesome, don't get me wrong. Maybe these are cool if you want to turn heads, but there's little value if you're going to actually beat them up off road. You can get a new 4Runner nicely equipped for the same price with more cargo space.

Starting MSRP for a 2020 4Runner is $36,120 - what are you comparing to?

It's higher than that as were talking off road and all Bronco's come with 4wd where as you need to spend 38k just to get a base model 4 Runner with 4wd. 4wd and 4 door on both with destination charges differences makes the Bronco 4.5k cheaper starting.

Depending on trim level and included packages at time of purchase the new Bronco price range can reach $60K. Ouch! I would expect that to easily climb to $75 by the time dealers sell to the idiots willing to pay more than the manufacture thinks its worth.
