First PICS of R360/Radeon 9800XT

Love that fan, bigger diameter so I'm guessing it'll provide cooling while still being as silent as those before.

Why'd ATI change to the bigger molex power connector? I liked the small "floppy" one, takes less space and they don't get used much otherwise. Did see at least one review complaining how difficult they were to work with in a "Math is hard -- Barbie Doll" rant, surely there must be more to it than that though?

They changed when they went from R300 to R350. Why? Because the molex is sturdier and that's what nVidia was using. I think reviewers called for molex too.

Nice. I think I'll sit on this GF3 Ti200 until PCI-Express though. That R400 will probably be the one to look for. Might as well upgrade everything at once...

There's always the option of spending $170-200 in the form of a Radeon 9600XT instead. That's what I'm doing until Q1 2005 when I'll build a system from scratch.

From the Rage3D forum member who took PIC #2:

Sorry guys, that was the only picture I could take, it was running 3dmark2003 demo in a loop over at the AMD64 launch. The guy that was there was nice enought to pop off the side to let me take this picture. I asked him if he knew when it was gonna be retail, he said it would be in 2-3 weeks or so.

Even at the ATI area they were using a 9800pro. (forgot to ask the guy for info about the XT)

LOL, ATi manages to cool their .15 micron core down with this setup and NVIDIA requires a friggin' air-conditioner to cool their NV38😉

At least it doesn't require two slots...

are you sure? that HSF mechanism looks like it comes awefully close to that first PCI slot.

by the way, is that an mATX mobo? and what kind of case is it in?

It's a Gigabyte GA-K8VT800M VIA K8T800 Athlon 64 mobo.
