i prefer days when people had rigs typed out in their sigs and not some link. i would notice their rigs when typed out, but now that they're links, i never bother clicking through... perhaps the point of this thread was to have people type them out...

The biggest gains I've gotten recently were from increasing RAM from 512 to 1 GB, and cpu from 1.9 to 2.28 GHz. For shooter games, I think a fast cpu eclipses a nice video card... at least if you're the competitive type. I'm hoping to get an ATI 9700 or 9800 if prices ever get below $200 US.
