First Panorama from Nepal

Man does CS3 do a great job of auto aligning and blending the layers.

This panorama is of Annapurna 3, shot just before dawn with my camera handheld. 17 images stitched together and blended by photoshop CS3 extended edition. I know the photo looks blue, but I corrected all of the raw images to the proper color before adding them to the panorama. That was the true light that morning as the sun had yet to come up.

I'm impressed too, not just with the image (which is amazing), but by how you managed to get CS3 to blend 17 images that well! I usually end up using PTGUI or AutoStitch because I have some kind of blending issue with CS3.

I shot the middle image first to set my exposure. Then I set my camera to manual and took the panorama using that exposure for each of the 17 photos. Once I got everything loaded onto the computer, I color corrected the middle image first to the proper tones, then told bridge to color correct the other 16 images using the same settings. All shots were done in raw. I then dumped all of the images onto 1 canvas on their own layers, told photoshop to autoalign, came back 45 minutes later, told it to blend and there you have it. Then just cropped and saved for web.

Truly impressive! It really captures the atmosphere of the "top of the world." It caused mr to put on my bathrobe.

I shot that thing handheld, as I didn't have a tripod along. I'd like to get a better one that you can compact for travelling, but expenses at the moment forbid it.

Damn...what was the exposure length? I was assuming, that if it was before sunrise you would need a long exposure. Care to post the exif of you anchor pic?

1/50 at ISO100, F2.8 with IS on. 17mm focal length. All of the snow on the ground reflects so much light and really brightens up the scene.

Whoa...I would have never expected such a quick shutter. I have always noticed how bright it is out on the random chance that we get snow.

Havent worked on it at all today cause Ive been running errands since work ended. (In the market for a new car). The other pano takes so long to do cause I run up such a huge page file cause its ginormous. Hopefully by the end of the weekend though
