First overclock - how have I done so far?

Hello all
In the Intel D975XBX2 mobo's bios in the 'Advance' section, under 'Memory overides', what exactly does the "Reference frequency" (which I have left at default) represent? And should it be left at default during overclocking?

I have had to reduce my "Memory frequency" to 400 in order to reach my present overclock of 3.105Ghz. I am running a vcore of 1.3375, fsb voltage override of 1.275, mch/ich voltage override of 1.575, and a memory voltage of 1.96. I've stressed with prime95 for about an hour successfully and ran x2 demo with an average frame rate of 108. Note that my vid card is eGeForce 7300GT. How have I done so far. Do you think i can reach 3.2Ghz? Please let me know if there is anything I can alter or should do differently. The cpu is E6600. Highest temp under stress was 53 c and at idle was in mid 30s.

Hi Jawkney,
D975XBX2, E6600, Kingston ddr2 pc6400 2x1G, ultra 120 extreme, psu ultra 800W.
Also I quoted my idle temps incorrectly. should have been 42 cpu (the mid 30s I quoted was really for the core1 and core2)

im not very familiar with that motherboard or frankly the 975X chipset but i would think that you could get a larger over-clock than 3.2 with that processor/ram/cooler. with your 9x multiplier you should be able to do 9x378 for 3.4Ghz and if you're lucky you could get 3.6Ghz out of it with 9x400 and a 1:1 ratio for your ram. i would leave your memory and fsb voltages at auto unless you can't post with it that way. your temps seemed a little high to me. the ultra120 extreme with some AS5 should keep it a cooler than that.

Just updated my signature so my rig can be seen when asking a question. Will try your suggestions for 3.4Ghz and see what happens. My relatively high temps may be because I am tropical and am at a room temp of 33 right now, so I am starting kinda hot.

after you get a stable 3.4 lower your vcore in increments and see what the lowest stable vcore would be. it's always worth it to keep your cpu a few degrees cooler.

um, your room is at 33c? that's, uh, I was never good at math, let's see: 33x1.8 = 57.75 + 32 = 89.75f. that's not tropical, that's africa hot!

had a hectic day, just got in.
And yes Bryan you're right about the temp but wrong about the location. This is our hottest month, and its right here in the Caribbean, I kid you not. You get used to it.
