Hey Guys,
I Finally got my System Pieced Together and am ready to start playing around. This is my Configurations:
Asus A7N8X Deluxe Mobo
Amd XP2100+ 0301 stepping
Kingston Hyper X PC3000 512 MB Chip Ram
Maxtor 80 Gig ata133 8mb HD
Antec True Power 330 W
SLK-800 Heat Sink with YS-Tech Adjustable Fan
Ati Radeon 9000 64mb AGP

When I boot up my Bios reads the Chip as an XP1500. Please let me know where to go from here. I know I should turn it on for AGGRESSIVE settings, etc. Please hit me with some configurations. I would like to overclock this chip a little bit for now just to get a feel for it. Something reasonable I suppose. Any Help Greatly Appreciated
Thanks
Frank S

set your bios to 133fsb and the chip should read as a 2100xp when yyou reboot....i am not familiar w/ your mobo but mine has a selection for high performance settings...if you really want to tweak youp system you have to unlock your chip first...otherwise you can probably only run at a fsb160. Unlocking your chip depends on what kind of core you have....palomino unlocks differently than a thoroughbred(t-bred) sissoft sanda is a program that will tell which is which w/out haveing to remove your chip...however, you will have to remove it to unlock it....once it is unlocked change your fsb to 166 and your multiplier to 13 and it should show you an xp2400 when you reboot...i just did this the last two days and oced it to 2.19 stable...but, I have since backed it off to an xp2400 as i dont need all the power...good luck

I thought that if you have an nforce v2 motherboard that the chip was automatically unlocked????? Isn't that so?
I just tried to set my FSB to 166 for the hell of it and it booted as an XP2700+??? don't know if that is good or what. I just dropped it back down to 133 until I understand what's goin on.
thanks

ANY OTHER HELP PLEASE POST !!! I want to get this thing running nice

actually, some motherboards will unlock it...yours I believe does....my bad- i was not paying attention...sorry.

the only way to know if it is good or not is to stress it...what are your current settings at?
FSB, mutiplier,vcore,etc.

I haven't done any stress testing on the machine at all yet. I am still in the process of loading my os.
I haven't changed much yet. My settings are at 133FSB, 13X multiplier and 1.6V default running Temperatures about :
Motherboard :28 C and 82 F
CPU Chip : 27 C and 80 F
my memory seems to be at 6-3-3-2T? set at default auto
Let me know the next step. To raise my FSB to 166 and lower my multipliers??
then chance up the vcore a little if that doesn't work?
let me know
thanks

Heat is the biggest killer...your system is good now...you want to keep it nelow 60c with a fill load...not being famliar with your motherboard, see if you can change DRAM settings from auto to high performance. If not, leave them for now...A safe starting point would be 166fsb with a multiplier of 11 (166fsbx12). start increasing your fsb slowly. When it does not boot or you get errors, back off the mulitiplier by half-step and continue to increase the fsb. This should keep you from haveing to increase the vcore for a bit. Try not to lower your multiplier too much (11-11.5 is good). Some people have been able to get the FSB up to 200 with 11.5 multiplier. It all depends on your processsor, mobo, and ram working together. Anyways, repeat the process above until you find the sweetspot. If you you have a problem with crashes or the o/s not loading at all, gradually increase the vcore. Watch your temp always.

That's about it! Once you hit a speed you're comfortable with, then run some stress testing programs like Prime95 and memtest86 to make sure you won't get any nasty surprises or instability in the future. Encoding DivX is also becoming a more popular way to stress test around here as well.

Hello Again Guys,
I finally got her all up and running.
Stock I ran Prime with settings 133fsb and Multiplier at 13 and I got XP2100+. That is what the chip is.
When I upped my FSB to 166 with a Multiplier of 13 I got XP2700.
I went ahead and Put my FSB at 166 and my Multiplier at 12 and achieved XP2400+.
I have been running prime and it is passing everything happily and stable. My Temps are as follows:
CPU: 37 C under Full Load
MB: 30 C under Full Load

My Voltage is still what it was default at about 1.63 as of now. In Asus Probe is says that I am running at 2000MHZ and everything seems great.
Where do I go from here. Am I going to try to shoot for the 13 Multiplier and get the XP2700 Speed stable? Should I stay at 166mhz? what about 200, is that pushing it? Let me know some different combinations to try.
Thanks Guys
Frank S

With the Nforce2 mobos you want to run your FSB high.Try multiplier 11 and 200FSB for starters at default voltage. If it doesn't boot up and you can't get back into the bios.Shut down your PC and hold the insert key and while holding insert power on the computer.Keep holding until you see the post and can get back into the bios. Not sure if this works on the Asus mobo.Up your CPU Vcore voltage 1 or 2 notches and try again.

That thing can do 166FSB and full 2700+ speeds no problem, go for it. Some people can even get 200FSB!
