first or second floor?

I was searching through apartment listings today, and was surprised to see that first floor apartments nearly always tended to be cheaper than second floor apartments, even in the same complex.

I've always preferred 1st floor myself, on account of being hella lazy (not to mention it's a lot easier to get furniture inside the apartment if you don't have to worry about winding staircases), but what does a 2nd floor have to offer over a 1st floor to make it worth the extra money?

Saftey usually. It's easier/more convenient to break into a 1st floor than a 2nd floor. Insurance rates take that into account too.

Plus, if there isn't a 3rd floor, the 2nd floor people don't have people thumping above them.

Obligatory, "second floor so the girls can slide down my pole".

1st floor sucks. You have to listen to the 2nd floor person stomping all over the place all night or early in the morning.

Never tried a second or third floor. Just figured it was more of a hassle to move in, carrying sh!t up flights of stairs.

Top floor, I hate people being above me and hearing them constantly. If I can't hear them I don't care.

I prefer the top floor. 1st and 2nd are for ground dwellers. Im currently on the 6th (which is the top floor in my building).

I won't live in a place where I can hear the people above me. My first place was the top floor and my second was the first floor. I liked the first floor place much better.

I typically prefer high/mid rises.

Ground floor is noisier and less secure.

First floor needs to be destroyed ASAP in case of zombie attack. Kill the elevators, block the stairs, and a standard apartment complex becomes remarkably secure.

Why, do you feel that way, because I throw all my butts down below, but I throw all my roaches up to the floor above? ;)

Haven't lived in an apartment in ages but when I did I prefered the top floor but it really didn't matter enough to me that I would have paid a premium for it.

What if the zombies discover stilts and/or pogo sticks?

The occupants of the first floor will be fine - they'd just need to grab their gear and move up. I'd just rather not be displaced. :p

Impossible - zombies lack the coordination, never mind the cognitive capacity, to use either implement.
