First OC I'm happy with

Finally started to dig deeper and found a great reasource for my non-OCer friendly mobo the ASRock939-DualSATA2. Now I'm running my Opteron 165 at 2.4Ghz on only 1.2V, I'm running my first dual prime95 stress test right now...20 min in and no problems, temps stable at 40C (Big Typhoon HSF).

I would need to up the voltage to get the chip running any faster, but this is in a HTPC/multi-media machine, and my secondary goal is low noise/temps. So if I can keep her at these voltages, I'll be happy with the 2.4 speed.

Press the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard. Open Paint and paste it into there. Save as a jpg.

Then go to pics.bbzzdd.com and make an account. Once you've done that, you can post a link to your screenshot right here in this thread.

If you can get that overclock with anything less than stock Vcore then that would be awesome. Even if it's just one tick below stock. I'm happy with my very modest stock Vcore overclock (100MHz with a 50MHz boost to HTT).

wait what? why is your voltage so low? i have 2.6ghz with 1.55 volts and its safe. why do you want a low voltage?

See OP:

Plus, I have an ASRock939 dualSATA2 mobo, and it'll only allow for 1.4V without mods. And the HTT is locked passed 174MHz anyway. I can't seem to get it to run passed 170MHz even with 1.4V. But the temps are much higher. But, I'm happy with opty 180 speeds and 40C under load anyway.

Talk to who, oh designit...the ASRock fanboy...I'd rather shoot myself ;)

BTW - thanks, I've already been to OCW, it was very informative, and helpful...but I'm not ready to mod yet. :)

Damn, made it quite a ways....it's almost stable here:

"FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4
Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file.
Torture Test ran 8 hours, 24 minutes 18 seconds - 1 errors, 0 warnings.
Execution halted." - splog.txt
