So my company is paying for me to go to MCDST training next week. The training is for the Microsoft tests:

70-271 - Supporting Users and Troubleshooting Microsoft Windows Desktop Operating Systems
and
70-272 - Supporting Users and Troubleshooting Applications on a Windows Desktop Operating System

I then need to take the tests by September. They are giving out a free Windows Xp Inside and Out book as well.

I have already been through college, but I have no idea what these "training" classes are like. Is it pure lecture? Do they just prepare you for the test?

I have taken practice tests for both tests online at MeasureUp.com and I got like 80-90% on both.

Anyone taken these tests or similar tests?

Should I take a notebook? Laptop? SWAT team? :D

Thanks for any insight!

 Lucky you. I'd be interested in how it goes....Is it worth the money to go to the "training academy?" My bet is that it be money well spent.

Hell yeah... they will pay for my tests too, as long as I pass them. It costs like $1800 for the classes...

I shouldn't have much of a problem with them, but you know how weird wording can be on multiple choice.

You won't need a laptop as they will have a pc for every user which you will use during your training for lab. Basically the instructor will follow the MOC (microsoft official curriculum) and give you real world advice on the various topics you cover (depending on his/her realworld experience). At the end of each chapter are labs you do to drive home what you learned.

It is actually pretty easy and if you are getting 80-90% on self tests you will be ready for the real tests in no time. Have fun and Good luck!
