If the oil was as milky as you depicted - there was a major failure in the oil/water separation barriers SOMEWHERE in that motor.

I would keep a VERY close eye on the oil if you just get the coolant flush..

Like checked 2-3 times a day when driven.

Wouldnt that show up in a pressure test though?

lol, that's dirty
More like "lol, that's reality" because that is what everyone does. I'm selling my Corolla because the tranny is starting to slip again 😉

These are the type of things that scare me into never driving a car outside of warranty.
Well how much does it cost to fix the gaskets or whatever? Buying a new car every 5 years is brutal expensive.

I buy new, and trade in every three years just as the 100k mile extended warrantry is up. Now that I have moved closer to work I will be leasing, and get a 45-60k mile extended warranty if the basic warranty is not long enough.

We do save money though by sharing a single vehicle between my wife and I.

I used to cycle through vehicles rather frequently but stopped doing that when life got in the way (house, kid, married, etc). Even if it had cost me $1700 to rebuild the head thats still cheaper than a car loan especially since I just spent $700 putting tires on it and new brakes in the front.

Hopefully guys like you take care of your cars. I just bought a used car that was previously a leased vehicle.

Careful. Black Hole cars are a bit like that too. People don't want to sell it because they already fixed the brakes and the steering and the transmission and they replaced the tires and greased the bearings and replaced the head gaskets, etc.

One of the first replies said this was surprising since it's not a Subaru. Doesn't Ford have a bit of a history with head gaskets? Mazda is or was owned by Ford.

Yeah but the ford problem is with their 3.5 in the edge if i'm not mistaken. I think waggy has one?

The Mazda inline 4's haven't been known to fail to my knowledge. I think done of the foci use the same 2 liter engine

Well this would have been my first big repair on the car but all that I ended up having done was the coolant replaced (which I guess it needed anyway). The only "repair" would have been replacing the front rotors due to wear but I cant really consider that a repair since its a normal wear item.

Now my wife's MPV is a rabbit hole. Ive replaced 5 of the 6 ignition packs, both rear ABS sensors, all of the coolant hose running to the back, one portion of the exhausts flex pipe.

Its only "reality" to people who don't have a conscious.

What goes around, comes around. I'd never ever ever sell something to someone I knew had issues unless I told them about those issues. Thats shady, dishonest, and not how business should be conducted.
