First job interview on Friday!

Just got the callback for a job application I put in online on Saturday. They told me to wear khakis and a polo...should I go with that or would it be better to wear a shirt and tie?

What kind of questions should I be ready to answer? It's my first interview, and I know Best Buy has a reputation of being a sucky place to work, but I'm still nervous/excited, so there's no need to be a dick in this thread.

Any other tips are welcome 🙂.

Tell them why YOU need the job..not what YOU can do for them.
Where a gym tshirt...

Tell them you know nothing about computers or about hwatever you will be doing there....apparently they dont hire people that know what they are talking about.

Wear what they tell you (khakis and polo). Don't be nervous, go in there with an attitude of "You need me more than I need you"

lol BB interviews are a joke. I had like 2 or 3 before they hired me. I cant believe their hiring process has more than 1 interview.

and btw, working at BB is a job I would never wish upon anyone, its horrible.

You're an idiot, and you're not funny either.

That was a bad move. Home theater and computers are the highest pressure departments. GET INTO CAR AUDIO STAT!!!!!

Haha, yeah I read that online, I'll ask about car audio, but I'm not sure about their open positions.

Yeah that too.

Let me reiterate this: you do not want to work in home theater or computers. Appliances is boring out of your mind and the five people a day that walk into your dept are your only chance at sales, so that is almost high pressure too. Media is easy, but just stupid; harassing people about subscriptions and helping them find CDs. Cashier's also harass, but is stupid. Customer service you have to deal with assholes. "Geek Squad" is probably the lesser of all those evils (except for car audio), but I still wouldn't want to do that.

Car Audio you hang out in the back of the store, lots of cool stuff to play with, fair amount of customers who all ask the same questions, knowledgeable installers who can answer the tech questions you don't know, pretty easy budgets to hit, you always hit margin as there is 50-70% markup on everything, and managers don't bother you. Also most of the car audio guys are cool slackers, fun people to hang around with. Go back there, take my word for it.

Alright, I'll def. ask my interviewer if there are any openings there.

... this is BB interview. If you can breathe and have a pulse, they'll hire you. Good luck on it though, everyone should have at least few month of retail gig so they can have a different perspective.

Act like you know everything but in reality you know nothing about what you are trying to push err sell 🙂

You'll fit right in 😀

Go into the interview with some knowledge of their rewards programs, and especially the extended warranty coverages. Hell, make up a story on how useful on how useful the best buy warranty has been for you in the past, and you think you can use your experiences with it to better serve the customers. That'll impress them.
