SVC is good. It just takes them forever to ship anything out.

i ordered an MCX4000, a TMD fan, 3 rounded cables and a 22g tube of AS Ceramique from them last night at 10 PM Eastern, and they shipped it this afternoon. maybe they've fixed the shipping delay problem.

That would be nice!!! Let us know how it works for you!

I wonder if SVC has moved to their new location yet. Last time I went to their storefront, it was in a ghetto backalley near downtown San Jose. Nice people though.

i'll update when i get the stuff. thanks for this thread, btw, PJ. i had been wanting to get a new cooler, and this thread convinced me to go with the Swiftech over the Zalman CNPS7000-Cu.

ok im desperate! but hey at least im tryin right? 😉

for alpha pal users that have the fan blowing down on the HS.....

remove the aluminum shield and mount the fan directly on the HS ~ its worth 1 to 2*C full load.
(the shield is like a 10mm standoff for the fan)

😀

<EDIT> im gonna run a 2nd test~
this time insted of removing the aluminum shield, im gonna mod it so it isnt a standoff.....

.....nope ~ its better w/o the shield completely 🙂
could someone please verify this and report back? TIA

🙂

i started a thread for this mod here.
please post all questions and comments about it in there.

i tried that almost immediately upon getting my alpha a year ago. when i mounted my YS-Tech adjustable fan without the shroud and with the fan blowing onto the sink my temps skyrocketed. i guess it just depends on how your case ventilation is set up.

?? The shield I have is very thin. It doesn't raise the fan off the HS more than the thickness of the shield which is less than 1mm.

I tried both directions with the shield on and saw little if any difference. I never tried it without the shield.

look again oldfart ~ the alpha has 4 louvers that keep it from mounting flush.....

dont test with P95 as temps vary from test to test and would be a waste of your time.
DivX/MP3 encoding is a more consistant test.

mine dropped 2*C (full load) just from removing the aluminum shield :Q

HTH 🙂

I'll take the shrould or metal plate off mine and see if it makes a difference later today.I did notice that the metal plate doesn't seat right sometimes and one side goes down with the other end raised if not careful.

🙂

Sweet! Now that will be another hsf combo to see. Can't wait for your review Thugs!

He wants to still be able to hear I think... hehe

I know but I had to throw that in there,hehe.😛.Here is a video review of the mcx4000 along with a bunch of other video reviewed products. Its a pretty cool site. MCX4000 .I use the Panaflo 80mm "HIGH" 39.6cfm 32dba H1A Fan.Excellent fan but no fan monitoring, nice and quite.

Since I am currently limited to 175MHz FSB (SL6S2 2.53B), I ditched the 80mm TT Smart Fan and installed the 92mm fan brackets included with the MCX4000, along with a very quiet 92mm Panaflo. 🙂 Winbond HW Doctor is showing no more than 55C under full load, which is very good for the BH7. My office is very warm also.

pastorjay, I am not ignoring your PMs... I have over 1000 at the moment, and need to go through them when I get the time. 😕

How do you get a 1000!!!😕 I only get 100 max!!!😀

It is between 42-44C @ idle. This BH7 does not show temp or voltage swings like the old one. I really do need to install an external temp probe to be somewhat certain though....

EDIT: The 92mm fan is also pushing air through the bank of capacitors and over the MOSFETs very well (Winbond HW Doctor monitors the 4 Phase Power temp on the BH7 also). The temp used to be about the same as the processor. Now it is reading 37.5C @ idle... I also have enough airflow pushing through the NB HS to no longer use a separate fan. Everything is much more peaceful... 😉
