First impressions of the Mac Book Pro

OMFG!

this thing is one beautiful machine....

it is so thin and light and wonderfully pretty! <-- I can't believe I just used these words...

but it is!

the remote I think is useless and the mag. power connection is a bit deceptive. they say it prevents people from tripping over the wire and taking the laptop with it...but mine is stuck on there pretty good....if someone trips over my wire, me thinks the laptop will go with it anyways!

other than that, I'm just downloading 9 software update patches for it now...why didn't they load the latest and greatest from the factory? :|

I wish my D600 looks as beautiful....even the new core duo D620's are still butt ugly and thick compared to the MAC 🙁

that thing is nice!

I had to download 6 updates when i got my mini, but they were all updates that were recently released and they weren't major ones.

btw, that remote is cool when you use it with frontrow. it comes in very handy sometimes

i think Adobe CS runs on Macs

You have to emulate Photoshop and other Adobe products on an Intel-based Mac. Adobe isn't going to port them until the next version release.

Have fun poking along.

That sucks. I guess some teething was inevitable when they moved to an entirely different CPU structure, though. I imagine they'll get everything up and running before too long.

Adobe mentioned about 18 months.

Photoshop runs pretty good in Rosetta. Porting a massive program like Adobe CS takes a LONG time and a lot of money. Its no trvial task. But Like I said, Photoshop will run decent enough for many in Rosetta. Not so if your going to be using it in a professional manner though.

well, I bought this thing for a pro. graphics designer...so tough for her 😛

she said she HAD to have it so that she can "work from home" (translation - so that she can play with it from home, or moonlight).

I recommended her the G5 so we'll see when her work starts to suffer. although I don't know if it will be slower than working on a G4...if so, she's really screwed 😉
