This thing has been all over the news. I am waiting for them to comeout with some concrete proof! Which they have yet to do. If this is true, get ready, cuz it's gonna get ugly! There is going to be heavy fighting over that.

i don't like the idea of human cloning myself. That's opening up a big can of worms there.

Very true. Human cloning will open up a HUGE can of worms. Yet animal cloning is ok if its for non-domestic (household) purposes (i.e. scientific, medical etc.) My reasoning is that say someone kills a person and left fingerprints all over. The killer was cloned. One was innocent and the other was guilty (killer and his clone). Police narrow it down to those two, but which one do they charge? Anyone can think of plenty of other scenarios like this to shoot down human cloning (pardon my pun ;))

I saw that on CNN yesterday.

The Doctor that was making the announcement belongs ot a religious sect that believes all life on earth began with aliens
who cloned themselves. They want to build an embasy on earth for the aliens to visit. LOL

How funny would it be if this particular group really did the first clone successfully.

(I'm not comfortable with the idea of human cloning either, because I fear mistakes making a person suffer.)

What the heck is the point of human cloning? there's enough of us already;)

1 point that flaws your story is that the clone would be younger than the original:p;)

You know, there's been many movies and of course Star Trek episodes of the pitfalls related to cloning (DNA) issues. You'd think we learn. "The only thing the human race proves over and over again is that we don't learn, we only evolve".

Don't say that too loud.....

The Democrats might just pass a law requiring all scientists to watch Star Trek!

I think a person should die when their time is up...i dont believe in playing god. This to me would fill the world full of people...over crowding would come, because nothing would die, and soon lack of food would hit all the contenents,i think death is a part of life and i dont think we should try to never die as the whacko who made the first clone is saying thats why hes making them.

I don't think human cloning is a very wise idea either - and I'm not just saying that 'cuz I think that one of me is enough already. ;)

I'm all for clone individual human organ. If someone needs a heart transplant they have to sit around and wait for a compatible person to die. You could clone their original heart but "edit" the DNA to remove the original flaws if they were genetic.

I'm also for cloning animals to be used in scientific experiments to shut those dumb PETA people up, but they would probably have a problem with that also.

I don't think any clone (human, animal, or otherwise) should be released in the wild.

Oh and also those people claiming they made a clone are stupid and they are lieing. They haven't come up with any proof and my guess would be they are throwing this lie out to spread their "doctrine" about being created from aliens.

Forgive me if I seem silly, but we do already know how to make new humans and the current and time tested method does still work pretty good eh?
(remember I am a father of six, so I think I am something of an expert on this subject ;) )

It seems to be another selfish attempt to try to continue ones own existence here on this planet, I think that's the true evil here. There are new people to be born, we are but a wisp of smoke, a flower that fades and dies. It's the new ones who replace us that should be our legacy, to insist that they be mere copies of ourselves is truly reprehensible.
Instead we should believe that those who come after us will be better than us. That is the hope of humanity.

JMHO (just my humble opinion)

I've heard from different sources that DNA they extract from people to form the clones is already "aged" just as the person it was taken from, so that the clone (if it really is a clone) would already have part of its life cut off because of the aged DNA. Who knows what other kinds of health problems there might be? I've heard they're having enough health problems just with animal cloning!

Yea, animal clones die usely pretty fast and humans probably even faster. Im totally against cloning a whole human. Ive seen way to many movies, books and other stuff where it goes wrong.

Cloning is , ironically, old hat in China. Like they need another way to reproduce. But that's where I'm going when I need a need heart for my transplant.
