yea i picked up some 1.3 hdmi cables a month ago in anticpation for my setup. they were like 3 for 6 bucks on slickdeals.

with my viewing distance being around 8 feet. hopefully the 12 foot cable should be enough from the center tv stand.

wait yoyoyosdajello,

do i need a special sound card for the sound to be passed through to the receiever?

The onboard soundcard is just from an old gigabyte mobo:GIGABYTE GA-K8N51PVMT-9 939 NVIDIA GeForce 6150
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16813128001R

Its onboard chip is: Realtek ALC880
http://www.realtek.com.tw/products/productsView.aspx?Langid=1&PFid=28&Level=5&Conn=4&ProdID=42

So i guess my question is, with the HD 4830, who processes the sound, or does the HDMI passthrough on the HD4830 carry the info to the DENON receiver, and therefore a sound card is not required?

okay from what i researched, the ATI cards with HDMi passthrough are able to do so because of a mini-realtek chip onbaord their GFX cards similar to the ones build-in on mobos. so no sound card is necessary.
