the only problem with the phaeton and the touareg are their badges. the Q7 probably won't take over the BMW/merc/lexus SUV's, but i don't think it'll sell as bad as the VW.

No, you are forgetting price. No one in their right mind would buy a phaeton. Not at what they want for it anyway. SUV sales in general have tanked because of the cost of gas.

The X5, ML, MDX, RX330, pretty much all the ones that the Q7 is competing with.
