Hmm... it looks pretty good. Benchmarks are an international language. :)

Anyone know how to calculate currency exchange... in the conclusion there's this little snippet:

So soll Gainwards GeForce4-Ti4600-Karte satte 645 Euro kosten. Wir haben den Taschenrechner zu Hilfe genommen und nochmal auf die "alte" D-Mark umgerechnet: Heraus kamen satte 1.260 Märker.

So... what does 645 Euros equal to? Isn't that close to a grand in Canadian dollars?

No, but I've a german friend to translate it for me :)

I wonder why they used such old drivers for the R8500, it's performance has improved considerably since then.
Can't say I think much of theirchoice in benchmarks either....
Evolva, Aquamark, and Quake III...
Quake 3, at least I can agree with even if it is more then a little old at this point.
Evolva and Aquamark I don't think much of as benchmarks, especially Aquamark.

The GF4 looks extremely powerful, though I don't it'll really be put to get use besides FSAA in most cases. Still, it'd be nice to have the power for when it is needed.

Only mildly disappointing aspect was how poor it's pixel and vertex shader scores were in 3DM, the R8500 was pretty much dead even with it there.. and actually slightly faster on the P4 platform.
Oh well, as long as real world performance is good.

the MX series are not for the hardcore gamer. They dont even have the pixel shader, so they are not DX8 compliant. Seems like a step backwards for Nvidia. TI 200 are a better choice

An Euro used to be about the same as US$1, now it's about US$0.8...

So about $500? I'll take 2 at that price.

Heard this new technology was nvidia's next gen chipset for the XBOX. So not havin' the pixel shading makes sense.. no need if this rumor is true. Wonder what the XBOX is going to be called then ver 1.1?

Not impressed, no major leaps in tech. The GF4 is what the GF3 Ti500 should have been, an enhanced GF3 core. Too bad they weren't able to shift down to .13m in time. That might make it a bit more attractive.

Wonder why they used 3276 drivers for the 8500? There's a review of the 3276, 86, 6011 and 6025's on rage3d. 6011's were the fastest.

<< The US MSRSP for the 4600 is $399. As usual the Europeans are getting shafted :Q

Pricing details for the GeForce4 Ti series and the GeForce4 MX series.
>>

I agree, the Europeans with their lame Euro are getting shafted everyway possible, however the Geforce4 in the UK atleast will be cheaper than the Euro price which IMO is just a con!

These prices exclude british rip off taxes which if your fortunate enough to be outside of the UK you willn't have to pay anyway! :)

Geforce4 MX420 64MB AGP TV DVI Twinview=£63
Geforce4 MX440 64MB AGP TV DVI Twinview=£84
Geforce4 MX460 64MB AGP VIVO DVI Twinview=£115
Geforce4 TI-440 128MB VIVO DVI Twinview=£199
Geforce 4 TI-4600 128MB VIVO DVI Twinview=£275

The Euro is just so funny, if it falls anymore people will have to start using IOU's instead because they'd be worth more! :D

Well the FSAA is alot better in performance and even if you have a GF3 how many games take advantage of the new features let alone GF4 even if they did add some in,you will have to wait for the GF5 if you want new features.

Anyway you are right about no major leaps but there`s speed improvement which is not a bad thing if you`re upgrading from GF2 etc.

<< Nemesismk2 I think those prices are excluding VAT >>

Yes I know the prices exclude VAT, it was for a comparison against the Euro prices, most of the people on this forum IMO aren't from the UK anyway and wouldn't have to pay VAT (Value added tax, value added rip off more like, thankfully I will be back in the US in a few months time and I willn't have to pay british rip off taxes!) :D

<< Damn the geforce 4 is impressive, anands review is a goodie. >>

Upgrading from a Geforce3 ti500 to a Geforce4 Ti 4600 you will get an extra:- (Anandtech article)

1024x768x32bit

quake 3 - 7fps extra
serious sam 2 - 31fps extra (nice increase but unless you only play SS2 then not worth upgrading for)
rocw - 7fps extra

What's so special about the Geforce4 again?

All of the GF2 owners with some cash would of already upgraded to the GF3 so that rules them out, the rest who mostly buy budget GF2 video cards would they purchase any of the GF4 MX's knowing that when games become available which use most of the features of the GF4 they will be left out because their video card doesn't support them?

It was also clear in the Unreal 2002 benchmark when the Geforce2 ti beat them both that the GF4 MX mightn't work so well with next gen games and they might be better off sticking with their GF2.

The performance gains don't mean all that much to me since I'm still fairly satisfied with my "old" overclocked Radeon LE. I'm only a casual gamer so I personally don't see all that much benefit to paying another $200 when my card will still run most current games fairly smoothly.

What I'm most glad to see from these reviews, however, is that dual monitor support is now quickly becoming a standard. Since I spend FAR more time working and browsing the web on my computer than playing games, this feature is INFINITELY more important to me, particularly with 17" monitors being relatively cheap now. Running two video cards always raised the issue of possible conflicts. With dual monitor support now becoming a standard, we don't have to worry about that anymore. The little fluff features to Nview that Anand was complimenting are nice, but for the most part they pretty much all work the same to me.
