You'll change your mind if you give it a shot. When I first saw it I was looking to change it back to the original way but the new version is quick, painless, and makes things more efficient.

Generally AV-Comparatives is the most trusted source for anti virus testing. These are their results:

Avira - 99.7%
Avast - 98.2%
AVG - 93.0%

AVG is also significantly more resource demanding than Avast or Avira. There's no reason to choose AVG anymore, it's the slowest and has the worst detection out of all three.

Not sure why you wouldn't like avast either, unless you were just turned off by the fact that you had to register it.
