Nice truck. Any word on when Ford will redesign the Ranger?

Probably in another 3-4 years. In the mean time, the Tacoma this year will likely surpass the Ranger in sales as the best selling small truck for the first time EVER. So long Ranger.

The current ranger is pretty pathetic IMHO (judging from when I went and test drove several compact trucks a few months ago). I can't believe people still buy them. There is such a huge difference between the current F150 and the current Ranger. Ford really needs to get off their butts on that.

Ford spend so much time/money with the F-150/Explorer/Expedition/Excursion/Escape that everything else in the lineup got the shaft (including the Mustang which is about a year or two late to market).

but whatever happen to the Supercharger package?

they still have it. You can get the X-Runner with it installed from the factory. Puts it up to 300 HP, and about 335 ft lbs of torque.
Actually TRD doesn't have a supercharger ready for the X-Runner's 4.0 liter V6 yet. There's no doubt in my mind that they will have one available eventually though.

That's probably because the X-Runner isn't ready to be released yet. Every article you read on the X-Runner mentions the supercharger. I read on another board that someone asked a dealer, and they said they weren't getting any into on the X until october, and may not get any actual X-Runners in until after the first of the year.

Any idea when the mini-titan (AKA new Frontier) is slated to be released? The pics and specs looked aweful good for that little bruiser.

Two words for the interior of the '05 Frontier, FISHER PRICE!

And you can't beat the features/configurations of the Tacoma. It will be, and always has been THE compact pickup to have. The Frontier has always been a has-been. Didn't even make it to the list of top sellers and never has.

http://www.pickuptruck.com/html/otf0999.html

The new model should help things a bit for Nissan, but don't expect any VQ miracles or any Tacoma bashing b/c it'll never happen 😀

I'll wait till I sit inside.

That's just GM being fscking retarded again. I just shake my head at their continuance of keeping GMC sales seperate from GM. The Colorado/Canyon and Sierra/Silverado are the same damn trucks. Combine the sales you morons.

You would have a point if it was Camry and Altima, but this is not.
Frontier has a rugged quality low maintainance interior, which is appropriate for a truck.
Link
The shiny and silvery surfaces of Tacoma are just waiting to get scratched up.
It also has air vents that can be adjusted with one 2D motion as opposed to two 1D motions in Tacoma.

Yeah, that leather interior sure screams work truck 😉 Face it, these Tacomas and Frontiers are more "lifestyle" vehicles than work trucks. GM at least got that part right when they were describing the Canyon/Colorado.

If it's anything like the Tita...dash and hard plastic.

But you're right, I'll wait and see

ok I sat in both vehicles and poked and prodded the interiors, especially after others bash it.

The materials aren't hard. The material that covers the dash area in front of the passenger and all that is soft and tactile to touch. The plastics bordering the radio and HVAC controls are hard plastic though, and its the same hardness as Toyota's and Honda's. The arm-rest in the Titan/Armada are padded nicely as are teh interior door panels (a major pet peeve of mine wiht ohter Nissan vehicles).

It's really not that bad as you make it out to be. Have you actually sat in the Titan or Armada and felt the materials. I did, I also sat in the Corolla and Matrix and highlander. The materials covering teh dash in front of the passenger and covering the glove-box and all is hard plastic. If you knock on it, it sounds loud, unlike a muffled sound that a soft material would give. You know the Corolla really doens't have all that great interior materials as you make them out ot be. its all hard plastic in there.

leather is MUCH easier to keep clean than cloth interiors. Less dirt sticks to it and its easy to clean when it does get dirty.

there' a difference in the leather used in Rolls Royces and the ones used in today's trucks.

Do I need to reiterate that Frontier has VQ40DE V6, and that VQ**DE's have been on Ward's 10 best engines every year? 😀
Let's do some quick math:
Pathfinder 3.5L 240hp, 265 lbft torque.
4.0/3.5 * 240 = 274 hp
4.0/3.5 * 265 = 303 lbft

Neener Neener. After spending 20,000 miles in a Highlander, I can refute those claims 😉 The top dash (dark grey) of the Highlander is made of a rubberized plastic that "gives" slightly when you press it. The lower dash (light color) is made of high-quality low-gloss solid plastic. Same goes for the A-pillars. Same low-gloss, seamless plastic as used on the lower dash. The door panels (top) on the limited is leather, while the middle section is the same light-color low gloss plastic used on the dash, while the lower door is the same dark colored dark grey rubberized material on the top dash.

Whoosh, I can't believe I just said all of that about the Highlander's interior 😉

How many "work trucks" do you see with leather interiors? Work trucks have vinyl or cloth. Personal use trucks have leather.

That wasn't my point. My point was that you were talking about it being a rugged interior when trucks like the Tacoma and Frontier rarely see "rugged" duty.

Right the lower dash is made out of solid plastic, which is hard to touch. Your saying the same thing I am. and the entire Armada/titan upper and lower dash area (above and by the glove box area and near the windshield area) is rubberized plastic that is soft to touch.

the word dash is to vague...ti describes the entire front interior of the car when there are different areas i nthat region with different materials.

So yea, Titan/Armada aren't that bad if you actually sit inside and poke around.

And I need to sleep. 🙂 Stupid pointless car interior debates. Ah..the beauty of the forums. Without you, NFS4, I would have never gained an appreciation into the beauty that is a car's interior.
