I must say I'm impressed with that review. If what that journalist says is true, then the RL might be the new king of mid-level luxury cars, dynamically anyway.

No doubt he probably has an obvious bias towards the Acura, but still is impressive.

you are refering to the Neon right?

no, the 2k5 RL.

A turd as opposed to what else in it's class?

are you saying that tihs car is the best in its class?

old rl = turd
new rl = sugar coated turd

Um, how did you comprehend that I said or "implied" it was the best car in it's class with a simple question? It could be 2nd or 3rd best in it's class - does that make it then a turd? Are Porsche 911 GT3's and Ferrari Challenge Stradale's "turds" because they finished 2nd and 3rd in a comparison to a Ford GT?

Old RL = turd
- No doubt, I agree 1 billion^infinity percent.

New RL = sugar coated turd
- Despite the author claiming during the drive that it outperformed in some aspects it's competitors, it's still a turd? They are two totally different style cars. The new RL isn't the old RL with one or two improvements - it's a complete transformation, much like the 3.5TL is to the new TL.

I take that author's opinion with a grain of salt, you said it yourself he might be biased.
True they are styled dramatically different, its better then the old style 100%, but it has kind of a mazda-ish look to it which is not the great, IMO the TL redesign went in a better direction then this one did, I guess I give then credit for not doin a BMW and forcing all the models to look similar. I would definately like to see performance #'s on this car to really see how much better the underpinnings are. That car comes out to be a better performer then the others in that class, then I may change my opinion. For example, the WRX, I thought that car looked 100 times better after sitting in and driving it.

I'm sure it drives like a dream 🙂 The TL sure as hell does...makes my 04 Accord feel like a fvcking Yugo. I don't know how willing they'd be to let me drive a RL....maybe after it's out a few months 🙂

one thing that kinda bugs me is that body roll, my uncle's cl-s has a very floaty ride - its got its limitations, I hope this one has got a "spirited" ride.

Hmmm, I should set the record straight. Its not that I favor Benzes, but moreso German cars. There is a certain difference between Japanese cars and German Cars I can feel when I drive them. For example, my friend had a Maxima, and after driving that for an hour, we stoped at an Infiniti dealership. It had some of the same characteristics-handling, drivetrain, power, design wise. Whereas a German car will have power at both ends of the tach. I've also driven a V6 Accord that a friend of mine has on multiple occasions and we can agree that:
1. You can see the car is front wheel drive from its wheelspin on acceleration.
2. You can feel the handling limits when taking turna due to the oversteer or a FWD car.
Interior layout is a nice, although a little cheap.
Styling is hit or miss, I find it generic.
I'm sorry I wouldn't pay 30k for a honda, prob 30k for a used E-class benz, probably even a 528/530/540 used would be another nice choice as I hate the new Bangle 5, 7 in silver/white/black is okay.

agree

german cars > japanese cars > american cars

Edit: BTW I own a japanese car. affordability wise i think its the exact opposite.

I think the new m35 (not the m45) will give the RL a good run for the money.

well, heres an answer

Regardless of how much you might hate the Acura, if it is a "turd" compared to it, what does it make the rest of it's "competition" that the RL beats?

'beats' based on a biased review...

why was the benz a 4-matic? All wheel drive stinks, and I don't think this car or the TL/TSX looks any better. Anybody agree that these are cosmetically enhanced Civics/Accords? I drive a 96 Toyota Camry and wouldn't want a Lexus simply because I can feel the same car under the makeup.

From warcrow's thread I gave you the benefit of the doubt that you were being objective in your opinions but it seems like you have this affinity for Benzs. You don't think a TL/TSX looks good but you would buy a C230. 😕 You are entitled to your opinion, but as of right now I think it's crap. That's my opinion. 🙂

My V6 Accord EX > C230.

i believe i read a review long while ago where they compared the 2004 V6 Accord vs a CLK 320, and the halfprice Accord beats the CLK in EVERY performance catergory.

except in picking up hot chicks..
