Ahh, the humor😀

But I'll play anyway...Avalon = FWD, LS430 = RWD🙂

And the new 6-speed really helped with acceleration

I'm so tired of hearing the "glorified Toyota" remarks from people. Hello? If you know anything about Toyotas, you would know in Japan there is no Lexus. That means every Lexus over there IS a Toyota. Just because one maker chooses to make a large range of cars and not only lux cars like MB and BMW, they're not a worthy competitor? If you haven't noticed, all the other makers have made "lower end" cars like the MB C230, the failed BMW ti. They're just like Accords and Camrys, overpriced ones at that.

IS300 should be compared to the C230 since it's in the same price range. C320 is in the 330ci range i think which is lieke 6-7k more than the IS300

A lot of people aren't kidding when they say that however. If people said it as a joke then obviously its sarcasm, but a lot of people actually believe it's a glorified Toyota and need to know that it's NOT.

They do have Lexus's overseas, but they aren't thought about as the same as they are over here

Why? The engines are roughly the same...
Base Engine 3 Series IS 300 C-Class
Base Engine Type & Cylinders inline 6 inline 6 V6
Base Engine Displacement 3.0 liters 3.0 liters 3.2 liters
Valvetrain 24 Valves 24 Valves 18 Valves
Horsepower 225 hp @ 5900 rpm 215 hp @ 5800 rpm 215 hp @ 5700 rpm
Torque 214 ft-lbs. @ 3500 rpm 218 ft-lbs. @ 3800 rpm 221 ft-lbs. @ 3000 rpm

well i'd probably go test drive them back to back
And come back and say that you like the Lexus more... well, at least I did. Even the C320 felt like a friggin overpriced corolla with crappy quality. I also drove an A4 (2001) and a BMW 325i all in the same comparison. I ended up liking the IS the best... I recently drove a 2003 IS... I still like it.

That entire C-class and the G & ML are just plain overpriced junk. The G is understandable if you're looking for a true Range Rover alternative but the typical people that drive them are pure idiots. Rich ones but still...

But comparing the LS 430 to an E class isn't really fair. The E-class does cost a bunch more in similar trim to a 430.

I didn't realize Japan was the only place in the world "overseas".

My cousin visited from Taiwan a couple of months ago and I asked him about the issue with Toyota/Lexus, and he explained what I said earlier.

Toyota is just starting up the brand name Lexus in Japan. But Lexus has been in Europe for a while now (like 8 or so years I think)

what about the price range ?
You do realize how much more the C320 is compared to the IS300 ?

I see people compare the IS300 to a C320, a 330ci and what not which is like 5-6k above it's price.

IS300 should be compared to the 325, C230 or, and the CTS.
