The Mini is a guys car. Great handling with a chassis 50% stiffer than a BMW 3-Series. Add BMW safety and features and you have most likely the sweetest FWD chassis next to the Focus.

I really like the styling of the car...the only thing I don't like is the speedometer in the middle of the center display 🙁

I would love one of those suckers!
I love small cars, I love hatchbacks and I actually remember driving the original in the early sixties! 🙂

<< I'd like to take one and drop a Buick Turbo V6 into it!!

YEA!!!

😀 😀 😀

There goes the 50/50 weight distribution! 😀 😀

This would make an awesome commuter vehicle.

From the article:
<<But given a choice of the two models, we'd probably opt for the base 115 hp version. Yes, we're surprised, too, but the S' suspension is just too hard for everyday use.>>

You mean there is actually such a thing as being too stiff? They've got to be joking. 🙂 I think I'd rather have an original Austin Mini Cooper S though. Just like I'd rather have an original VW Beetle. New is nice, but the character's not quite there.

But the new cooper is so heavy and big (relatively speaking, I think it's around 2600lbs)... kinda lost the tradition of the old mini's...

That is a big turn-off for me...

Well DUH!!!! The new mini is actually SAFE and has regulations to meet unlike the old Mini. Side airbags, front airbags, head airbags, ESP, TC, etc, etc.

Compared to most other cars on the road, it's a featherweight. The only sporty cars lighter are maybe the Miata, MR2-Spider, and Toyota Celica

I never said it's a bad thing... I know the reason for the extra weight... I just said for me it kinda broke the tradition of the old mini's...

I drive a civic hatchback, which weighs in a little over 2300lbs... so 2600lbs is considered heavy for me... But I know it's actually light weight compared to other cars out there...

at 2600lbs, its light....but not light for a car of that size. It is a neat car, but its the size of a chicken's a$$hole. I wouldnt mind taking a test drive though, I think it would be a fun ride.

How much will they be? 20k-ish?

gotta love the retro craze. what's all come out in the last 10 years? let's see..

Dodge Viper ---> Cobra
Plymoth Prowler ---> 1930-1940's coup
PT Cruiser ---> Panel wagon
new beetle ---> old beetle
Cooper ---> old cooper
Dodge truck ---> old stepside pickup w/ big front fenders (1950's)

I'm sure there's more... but those are the first i can think of. I love Old cars (1967 Dodge Charger sitting in my garage. 🙂)

Yo,
My amigo's dad (my amigo is 28, his dad is 60ish) is on the waiting list to buy a Cooper here in California. Looking forward to seein' the new wheels, pictures look cool.

It definitely looks like it would be fun to drive and it's definitely quirky...however, I'm not the sort of person that likes to bring attention onto themself 😉

Haha, I'd still love to have one. And $20,000 ain't bad for a BMW 😀
