If by date you mean the kind where you get all dressed up and shy/nervous, try to impress the other person you're with, take them out to a nice restraunt and then to the movies where you pay for everything and always hold the door and prove that you are a big giant dork, no, I've never been on one of those...and I'm 21.

But if by date you mean had a girlfriend or did date type things like taking said girlfriend out to dinner (without going all out and dressing up and making a fool out of yourself), then I probably started around 16, maybe a couple years younger.

<< I'm 19 and still haven't been on a "date-date". I don't really consider it to be that bad of a deal. HotChic wouldn't go out with me because she already met the guy of her dreams, so my life remains geeky for the time being. That's ok. At least I have the freedom to sit in front of my computer all day and I don't have girls whining at me to shave. And then there's the computer games. They probably wouldn't work very well unless I got a geeky girlfriend, and I doubt that'll happen. Dating largely seems based on the premise that guys are willing to drain their pockets on boring chick-flick events. >>

The "guy of my dreams" took me up on my offer to take a break from dating, so I'm back to just plain me again, a situation I'm quite happy with. Never have needed a guy to define my personality.

Well, I'd date you, HotChic, but I'd have to compete with a ghost of your old boyfriend. ;)

LOL, that's okay, like I said, I'm happy being me on my own. But thanks for the offer.

That's good. But my philosophy is that if you can't learn to be content on your own, you're not going to be able to be content with the complications a "significant other" brings to the table either. The people I've known to be successful in dating have learned to be successfully single. After all... "latchy" people just produce instability in relationships. I don't understand people who think they're going to increase security in an adolescent relationship anyway. Those have generally seemed fickle to me.

18 and never been on one, save Jr. High (when I had friends!) but those don't really count I don't think. Now in HS I'm not in any of the crowds so I don't know anyone. So I can't really just go up to some random chick and ask her out. :) Alas, things will change next year in University...I hope!

That depends.

First date that my date went on willingly by herself without being bribed... 18, first date 16

yes a Friend of mine wanted to take thsi chick out, Her parents wouldn't let her go unless they doubled.

My friend "BEGGED AND BRIBED" a girl to go out with me. so he could go.

Of course I found out about this after the fact.

I was pretty urked,

lol, My last child turns 18 right after I turn 48. I get to be free again while I'm still relatively young enough to remember how to be and with enough skills and cash to enjoy it :)

so i'm about your child's age. hmm. i dunno, maybe i'm just immature, but i seriously can not imagine that kind of commitment at 19... i mean, that's a little over a year from now for me. how old was your husband?

I've never been on a real "date" per se either. I just have no luck with women :(

Sweet Jeebus people, step away from Geekdom once in a while ;)

I was 15 when I went on my first serious date.

I was 17 when I went on my first "date."

However I never really started "dating" girls in the traditional sense until last year (had some unconventional relationships). Dating sucks. I'm glad I have a steady g/f now.

I kinda had a date when I ws 17 but I didn't likel the girl (unfortunately, she was totally into me). does that count?
