Doorjamb pressure for my car is 38 psi in all tires, sidewall is 45. I decided to fill them all up to 45 for the hell of it last time I got gas. This is where I what expected did not happen at all, my car behaved completely differently. In addition to the TPMS light constantly being on and the ride going to complete shit, I found my traction incredibly reduced. The traction control light and stability lights would come on much more than would before (almost never). I also found it hard to get traction in 1st gear at lights, it seemed to skid almost all the time. I don't have shitty tires (P-Zero Nero) so that was not a problem. I did notice my MPG go from 26 combined to 28, but the loss of control that came with it was not worth the savings. Needless to say, I aired them down the same day.

Well in your circumstance it did not work for you. Why not play around the pressures until you get to a pressure that is as high as possible with out creating adverse handling? Are those the tires and wheels that came with the car???

It stays at 38, the cluster tells me if its too high or to low. Yes, stock tires

That's pretty gay... Now that you mentioned it, it sounds like the car's stupid traction control got all retarded and started to flip out over you inflating your tires to sidewall... Never had the TPS care about OVERinflating the tires, just under-inflating and it usually only warns when it's 25% under-inflated. Even then, some how today's children have been taught by their parents to not heed the car's warnings like to change the oil or to inflate the tires, etc. etc...

lol, it's 4k for a 116k civic(Then after taxes and what my dad wanted to do it will be closer to 4700 or so). It's not horrible or great, but I am happy with what I have.

What a shame, with that amount you could have bought something decent and much newer. Honda or not, you STILL paid over 4K for a 10 year old car, your right in the age bracket where stuff starts to break too, I'll bet you wont go a year without putting 1-1.5K$$ into that car..

I believe that is true too. Unfortunately the car isn't in fantastic condition, just decent enough... But whatever, it's already done. I just have to work with what I have, right? I didn't pay for it either. So, it wasn't really MY decision. It was my father's(Actually it was all his because he went and looked at it and decided to buy it).

Anyway, there are more things to be done like replacing the brake pads and maybe the brake rotors(Not sure how much those parts will cost but I know every shop in the town is charging mad dollars for the job). Oh and any recommendations on what parts to get? (Like brand and the type) I also have to replace the windshield wipers because they are REALLY bad. If it is pouring down rain I am almost driving blind.

Anyway... I'll take some pictures of it being undetailed/uncleaned/unfixed. It's nothing great...

Well, I'm glad you found a car. At the end of the day, a decent Civic with ~120k on the clock should be a reliable enough ride, as long as it hasn't been abused too terribly. Treat it well, and it should return the favor. IMHO the thing was too $ for what you got, but it is what it is, and it coulda been a helluva lot worse (like getting say a '99 A4 with 220k miles and a failing tranny and white smoke coming out of the failpipe).

Do the brakes yourself, buy a Haynes or Chiltons manual, it's not too bad. As any car gets to 10+ years old you can expect to do repairs, if you learn to do them yourself it will benefit you greatly in the long run..

I purposefully show all the horrors of my shitty car(I can't even show you the engine compartment because it is just so god damn horridly dirty, oh and the windshield wiper fluid stuff doesn't work even though it's full apparently?! I hear the little motor thing work but it doesn't shoot any fluid?)

Oh, and I've already vacuumed it somewhat. I spent over an hour vacuuming I am sure but it isn't really that clean... It needs some professionally help and some wiping down. Oh and I got new windshield wipers. RainX Latitude... They were spendy but consumer reports say they last the longest and perform quite evenly over the length of time you use them. (They don't work great then go to shit fast... They just work pretty good and keep working pretty good)

I wasn't the one who purchased the car. My father was. And it is actually a lot better than practically ALL the cars we've looked at in the >4.5k range.

Anyway, I vacuumed it and cleaned it a bit. I'll post the pictures later after I wash the outside too. I have some homework to do too though. :/

0-60 time is slow as ever at like 11 seconds in wet weather. :/ But hey, it's a honda civic! It's not about supah speed! :awe: And it's still fun to drive for me anyway.

Wow, you got an Automatic coupe? You really screwed up! Coupes and hatches with a few problems can be had for like $500. I paid a premium because I wanted a 4 door that was a stick shift. The more you post, the more I realize how badly you did and how well I did. The only reason I question myself is because most people I know wouldn't spend as much money as I did on a car as old as it is regardless of what its value is. Why couldn't you have been smart and at least get a stick shift version?? You realize that on an LX Civic Sedan, the 0-60 is 10.9 seconds for the automatic version and 8.5 seconds for the manual version.
