Imo finding a cheaper case with a good power supply would be a good way to go. You should be able to find something a lot cheaper with the same or close to same power supply. That would get you below your budget and possibly you'll be able to upgrade something else like ram or hard drive maybe. Just thought I'd give my 2 cents worth.

Sounds nifty. I'm not a big fan of that case, but if you like it, go for it. Are you planning to OC?

Looks sweet. Just a recommendation, I would go SATA with the hard drive. You should be able to get one around the same price. The SATA will be faster and will make less noise. Should improve performance quite a bit. Just my 2 cents.

i dont think sata will effect performance too much, but it will help airflow in the case, which is good.

well thanks for the input guys. i originally had a SATA hd but i switched to this because my friend told me that SATA isnt such a good idea for a newbie. also the guide i was reading suggested against it too. this is the guide http://www.omnicast.net/~tmcfadden/guides/build/index.html also if you guys think i should go with a cheaper case itd be great if you guys could help me find one :) ive been trying to go with newegg only and no im not planning to OC

I don't see how Serial ATA would not be for beginners... Would be worth a shot I think.

SATA is very easy to install, everything looks good. check newegg for the top sellers, as most of them are great choices for general use.
