Congrats on the build man. Thats damn nice for a 13 year old. haha funny how i have friends that are 20 and can't even type ,let alone build a computer.
 
Thank you, I take that as a nice complement. I strive to be as well spoken as I can anywhere I go, especially on these forums. The stereotypical 13 year old would type in the following manner - "hEY guyz, chek out tha neW l33t rigz0rZ that i spent building 4 a year that i used lots of money for that i got doing things that really was fun and i built this in a hour but it was hard and it started the first time".

That's one reason why I try to use proper grammar. Plus, why not try to sound intelligent?

That's good. Keep trying to write well on forums and eventually you'll probably sound like a Victorian gentleman or an engineer, both of which appear much smarter than the average illiterate forumgoer.

Normally I don't correct grammar, because it's obnoxious, but I'm guessing you'd actually want correction where possible, so: the word you want is compliment. God, I feel like an ass doing that, but I'm pretty sure it's what you want. Uh, a complement is something that completes a whole or another. Both compliment and compliment are nouns and verbs, and they sound the same, so it's probably one of the easiest mistakes to make in the English language, and not something I'd ever even mention if you didn't specifically state that you wanted to use proper grammar as much as possible.

Yes, I know my sentences are wrecks. The loftiest goal I personally can aspire to wrt writing is coherence; I've long since given up attempting to make my awful writing grammatically correct.

Hey, you can't be picky when you're 13. If you start on Lucky Strike, almost everything you try afterwards will taste good in comparison. It's the same principle as that behind raising kids on skim milk, or hitting yourself so that you feel good when you stop.
 
Nice job!

I built my first rig at 14ish and it was a wonderous $400 machine 🙂 I'm 16 now and I've got a steady job working in the local computer shop that I love. It pays to know how to build a computer.
 
congrats. i built my first pc 2 years ago ate 11. okay, so i had alot of help 😛 you have a very nice rig. you are alot neater than me is what i can say. i tever took the time to bother with the wiring. too lazy. dang, 2 year. i would of spent all the money on candy 😀 you have a great rig
 
Thanks. I think I'm going to get one of those Sunbeam Lightbuses to replace my Nexus, as it controls lights AND fans at once, thus consolidating all of the fan wires into one area.

Your right, gotta get ready for all the useful features vista will have! :roll: Why do people here give a sh!t whether or not thier system will run vista or not. It's seriously, all bloat, with out a doubt, there are no useful features in vista except the fact it may detect your serial ATA controller. It's absoultely useless, not trying to turn this into a vista flame thread but I think it's rediculous that you guys are getting excited to plop down your money on an operating system with litterally, no improvements except some graphical crap you could already do with konfigurator and giving you an incentive to upgrade your perfectly functional system just for more bloat.

Everything seems perfect on the first photo except for the box of the CPU which should be green 🙂
 
woah, for a second i was like, wtf, why is he sticking an x300 in there? hahaha. you should get some more lighting. its a bit weak.
 
Congratulations. I remember how warm and fuzzy I felt when I put my first box together. Of course that was back when computers required hand cranks 😛

My Birthday is coming up next week and I'm sure my parents would give me money to build a high end system but I'm perfectly happy with the system I got. I know it's not the fastest anymore but it gives me comfort that I don't have to think about "what video card to get" because frankly, there isn't much to choose from atm.

not everyone gets their computers from their parents. I built my first computer at 14, and I paid for it out of my own pocket (although it only cost $400). When I built a new computer this year (I'm 16), I once again paid for the whole thing out of my pocket - the thought of a new computer was the only thing that had made me able to survive work at my old job, which I hated.

EDIT: actually, this post doesnt' apply at all. I doubt anyone could pay for a top of the line computer at 14 (especially seeing as you can't get a job legally at taht age).
 
Well im not suprised if youngsters these days be able to build their own rigs. Because hardware installation and configuration are getting easier and easier.

back then u needed to know lots of things and make sure u had the right hardware for your setup. need to set jumpers for specific processors, choose the correct voltage regulators, mess up with irq conflicts and memory addresses, expanded and extended memory, comm ports can be nightmare too. IIRC some cdroms are connected to soundcard, networking?? urghh.. Filesystem and partition hell etc...

anyway congratulations kid.

Yeah, at our school (wade and i go to the same school, I'm a grade above him), they incessantly burn correct grammar into our brains... Really.. I mean, I cant knowingly type a sentence with agreement errors anymore. In fact, I think I proofread this post about nine times...

I'll admit that after a couple of terms substitute teaching, I developed a rather low opinion of teenagers. Especially those late middle school through high school.

I'm an old geezer at 69 and built my first computer at about age 59. You are a very pleasant surprise and reflect that your parents are doing a great job allowing and showing you how to become all you can become. Now I'm curious to know how many other young men and women use this forum and build their own computers.

How many of you are out there between the ages of 12 and 18? Remember, Anand was a teenager when he started this web page.
