First Blu Ray movie?

Ordered a Blu Ray player which I should receive late next week. I have never seen a blu ray movie except walking through Best Buy/Circuit City so I know it will look good but I want to get a movie so I can see how good it looks at home.

Any specific recommendations? I know it's a loaded question but I honestly am not a huge movie buff. Can't remember the last DVD (except kids movies) that I rented.

Anything from action to horror to comedy (but I doubt that will look impressive?) but no drama/romance stuff.

For visuals id probably go for Ironman. If you have a home theather and want the WHOLE experience id go for Master and Commander.

Someone posted a site earlier which rated the quality of Blu-ray movies (transfers?) - since not all movies take full advantage of the increased resolution. Hopefully they'll do the same again, since I didn't save the link ..

I think The Dark Knight is one of the most impressive Blu-ray titles. Some vidoephiles bash it for excessive edge enhancement and shifting aspect ratios but I think it looks fantastic.

The Pirates of the Caribbean movies are great "demo" discs as well.

Most of the Pixar releases are top notch...I also imported "Red Cliff", so that looked spectacular as well. Just watched Red Cliff 2 this last week.

Not that it matters much but how big is your hdtv and about how far are you sitting from it?

As for movies titles, any of Pixar's, Iron Man and Dark Knight for action. If you have a nice sound system The Matrix Trilogy and Master and Command are some good reference material for sound seperation and dynamic range.

I sure hope the impending 3/17 release of Princess Bride ends up on one of the higher tiers... it will be the first Blu-Ray I've purchased (currently $22.99 pre-order at Amazon)

what's the deal with the watermark? is it possible to avoid that printing? and uh...is one able to rent it in the US on BD?

Oh, and Die Hard 4 is great for live-action PQ and AQ if you have a nice system.

Personally, I like the Dark Knight on my 42" Plasma...can't stand it on my brother's 52" LCD. The complaints regarding the transfer are legitimate the higher your screen size where the serious issues are far more noticeable.
