BIOS flashed has stopped the eratic settings not sticking behaviour
As for Stress testing i discovered somethig counter intuitive
HT enabled does indeed cause more heat while stress testing in prime (small FFT) however it will crash much faster with HT disabled while using prime
seems wired but very noticable
1.25vcore at 4.5 GHz HT enabaled was alot hotter low 90s
it easily ran for four or five calculation checks in prime however i was unahppy with the temps (to run while i was away) and manually stopped it
so i rebooted disabled HT and started prime, great temps lower. Bang crashed within about 15s
Well this makes it easier as im not too worried about the temps in these synthetic tests and if for some strange reason prime pounds my cpu more with it disabled all the better
did a ran last night while i slept HT disabled (since it seems to be harder on cpu for some reason), turbo enabled (probly always was with the buggy BIOS as it would drop core speed and volatges at idle) 4.4Ghz, 1.225 vcore, 1.92 vin, 1.150 ring, +0.1 on system agent, cpu analog and digital, i left XMP on and uncore on 35 so it auto oced to 4000 (im gettign sic of the stresstesting and would be happy for this to be my final safe oc)
it survived all night (small FFT) about 8 and a bit hours then just before i leave for work bam restart ( i reackon prime likes to mock you like that, it senses you have looked at the screen and are happy and then stabs you in the nuts).
so i bumped the vcore to 1.230 should be good now fingers crossed
