Got proof? LoL It's a friggn joke. Calm down Intel fanboys. I'm not a brand name loyalist. I was Intel loyal all the way till Feb 2005. I now know the power of AMD. Well I was AMD loyal for a long time before all the way until 533 Northwoods came out. So its back to AMD. I love my Athlon 1400 =P

INtel Fanboy??? Look at sig!!! I just think one has to be careful dropping bombs like that on the NET.....

Forum 101 cause sometimes sarcasm is hard to decipher...

"no way, it was intel asking to delay the beatdown" (sarcasm) or a wink....

Plus you didn't say it so do you know the author is meaning this as a joke??? He probably was....My proof comment wasn't really intended to be aswered...It is rhetorical ...I know he has no proof. the only ppl who know for sure are the site it was pulled down from.

Can we please stop the flaming? I joined this forum for it's integrety and expertise. Not spelling errors fanboy jokes, not calling people idiots, etc. I and as most of us here will always go with whichever company can make the best chip. All of us have had one or the other running at some time. If you want to post crap, go bensbargains and talk about bacon and agps slots. I myself am willing to wait until all the data is in before I make up my mind if I want to upgrade or not. So far I am perfectly happy with my a64 3000+ @ 2.66. If you think I am a fanboy come by my house. I have 4 computers, 2 AMD, 2 INTEL. same mix for video cards. I still have 2 celeron 300a that overclock to 450 sitting in a drawers.
So everyone please stop the garbage posts.
Thanks

I for one am going with AMD no matter if the percentages are even close or still towards Intel in their normal strongholds...basically if nothing changes interms of how it is in single cores....I dont want to drop more cash in a platform and buy expensive DDR2 memory....I am ready for it now...may get one more gb of ram and spend my cash on an opteron system (dual core).....

The only thing I am interested in see is if the opteron will perform slightly better in percentage for a 2nd core versus INtel based on not having the shared bus...I dont hink AMD can do worse but only slightly better. The technology pretty much points at it that way...

geebus, dual opteron? what could you possibly need w/ that?! i think high end s939 dual core would be just fine..

Rendering Architectural drawings using ADT2004 and Vizrender...It is highly multithreaded. The faster it can go the better...

Right now for a 100frames (24fps) for about 4 sec rendered w/ radiosity (highly detailed drawings) It takes like 15 minutes to put into Xvid format for playback. 15 second clip is 1hour and 30 seconds is 2 hours.......From testing I have seen HT can decrease time by 22%...i would think dual core will take that down closer to 60-80%....then add the second core and bring it down so more.....

I am going to test it on MarkFW900's machine first to see what a dual cpu system will deliver on it.....Anything above 2 threads is a guess if it will be truly efficient as mcuh for 2 cpus....We will get a better idea with more cinebench results with dual core opterons when they arrive....dual core P4 w/ HT is hard to guage right now....not truly 4 cores so I am not sure if the HT really helped at all in the dual core config....

well as far as they know they have every reason to believe this is a legit bench....but at the end of the day it is just ONE bench, ill reserve judgement till a full suite test is done

but obviously a dual core, beating a chip with dual cores with hyper threading (4 logical cores) is pretty impressive

I don't know too much about this but it would seem that the greatest benefits in a business application (and in this case the video benchmark they used also) would be the result of going to 2 cores from 1 core. Once you have those 2 cores, I can't really see a huge incremental benefit in going to 4 cores unless you run scientific apps written for 4 or more cores (and also when other apps start to take advantage of 4 real or logical cores).

Cool ! Can't wait ! And when dual-core Opterons come out, I may get those !!! (depends on when)
