Firmware updates

Is this something that is restricted to a few drives?....Are there Lite-ON drives that are like this?

The firmware update to overclock the drive only works on 32X and 40X drives.

Remember though, not all drives are created equal.
While it will work well on one drive, another may just give out heartaches.
