Do camera manufacturers frequently release firmware updates? I was wondering because it seems like Kodak has used the same interface in their EasyShare cameras for years, and they share a common limitation. When used in video mode, the user cannot operate optical or digital zoom after recording has started. I sent an email about the issue to Kodak technical support, and they assured me that my suggestion would be implemented quickly. There is still no update available on the web site for my model. Has anyone ever seen a firmware update for a Kodak digital camera?

This problem is a limitation of the camera's built-in user-interface software which should be easily resolved with a simple firmware update. The same interface is used for dozens of other cameras, so a simple fix would satisfy thousands of camera owners.

When the camera is used in video mode, the zoom function can be manipulated before recording, but not during. This limitation is an oversight that is caused because the zoom function is supposed to be disabled during the moment when a still picture is being taken. The limitation should be removed so that it is possible to adjust the zoom while the video recording is in-progress. This message should be forwarded to the programmers responsible for the built-in software user-interface. Please let me know what is done to resolve the issue.

Thank you.

I was also looking for firmware updates for my kodak camera. But i wasn't able to find any on their website, so my best guess would be that they don't do firmware updates for their cameras. =(
